I wonder how long we have to wait until we have a player that scores 30 Prem goals again? Hopefully when it happens again we finish higher than 8th 😂

That’s just not fair. I’m critical of the guy, but if the right offer has come in, you can’t blame him.

What will be of more interest is what comes next.

Spend well, and we’ll end up stronger and better. Spend badly, as we tend to, and we’ll be in a very tricky place

That's what will happen. It's so obvious. He is irreplaceable. It is different from Bale etc. in so many ways. I'd go get Toney now irrespective of his ban. He can play again from January, which isnt that far away and Richy/Son is good enough until then.

A sad day in the history of the club.

My take on Kane certainly won't be a popular one, but I never felt a connection to him. I get that he's one of the best strikers in the World and would walk in to any team and improve it and he will be a big miss for us. But I just never really felt he was Spurs, despite him being here for 20 years. I look at current players like Lloris and Sonny and past players like Hoddle, Waddle, Mabbutt, Gazza, King, Defoe, Keane, Berbatov, Dembele, Modric and Bale, to name but a few and I felt a connection to them even though some of them weren't here long. But never felt the same about Kane for some reason.

I think the writing has been on the wall regarding Kane since he downed tools a couple of years ago and he's just been biding his time with us waiting for his contract to end. So I came to terms with him leaving back then. Regardless of losing one of the best players in the World, I'm looking forward to next season more than I have for the last four years since Poch's last season. Can't wait to enjoy some good looking football again.

Connection to Berbatov but not Kane is insane to me, but each to their own

For some reason I never held much affection for Kane, not sure why but it hurt way more when Bale left and Sonny leaving would be way worse as well. Great player but the idea of him leaving over the years has never bothered me.

Some people will try and spin this in a positive way. But it’s really not that much money in todays market, and I think this is a massive step backwards for the club.

Some people don’t remember what it was like not having a top striker at the club. Until Kane came along we hadn’t had a regular 20 goal a year striker at the club for donkeys years. Not having a reliable goal scorer up front can make teams very inconsistent. It’s why Strikers always go for the top money and earn the top wages. We will struggle to attract a replacement that will reliably replace those goals.

It’s all good and well thinking an attacking team will make up for that, but it doesn’t. I know from experience that it didn’t under Jol, and it didn’t under Redknapp. Neither manager had a truly reliable goalscorer, and neither were able to have the team consistently performing at the top of the league. That’s despite having some truly brilliant attacking talent from midfield that often chipped in with goals. That’s never enough.

Didn't you compare the rest of our squad to the Leicester squad that got relegated?

You have a very low opinion of our squad, to the point that it's unreasonable.

I’m actually not knocking him although we could knock him for getting to the point where Kane has one year left. I’m saying that there’s no way he was in a position to negotiate a good position
You negotiate the position your in. Dont get me wrong its criminal behaviour from Levy to have wasted an era where we had the best English striker of his generation, to not have won at least something. Personally think this will hang over Levys head, to have wasted a talent like Kane but 100M is better than nothing which is what i really thought would be the outcome next year. At least Kane let us get a fee and has gone abroad. Its the best scenario we could have hoped for

I know what you mean even if I don't feel as strongly. I know it sounds a bit "well I never liked her anyway" after your girlfriend's dumped you but I think we naturally gravitate towards explosive players and big personalities and Kane has never been either of those; I felt the same way about Eriksen, just found him a bit bland. By comparison, van der Vaart shushing the Arsenal fans buys him a lifetime of love and adulation.

Yeah definitely will feel like the rebuild is totally complete with those two gone. With the exception of Son we could lineup with 10 players bought post Poch against Brentford in a weeks time. As much as it hurts to lose Kane it will be refreshing to get behind a young set of players again, all with something prove, and not tainted by the near misses of the Poch-era.
‘Painful rebuild’ is what was always implied. And I’m ‘happy’ for the refresh. With the poor management choices (hindsight) it was inevitable Harry would go. Change is uncomfortable but necessary if we are trying to move forward on the pitch. I hope Ange has input with who we need.

Don’t blame him for leaving, this is all on Levy for me.

Wasted a once in a lifetime homegrown talent. Unforgivable.

Hope he comes back in a few years to smash that transfer record.

We won’t get another striker as clinical: then again, neither will anyone else unless they’ve got Haaland.
