It’s completely unacceptable for us to lose Kane for even a cent less than West Ham got for Rice.

I respect everyone has different feelings about this, but I’m not willing to settle for less than £105 million + add ons. Anything less is an insult.
Rice is a lot younger and had two years left (inc option) on his contract.

This just isn’t being realistic as to the relative situations. If we get 100m, we have to accept IMO

I just don’t see why we need to sell Kane to push through the centre backs we need. They should be coming in no matter what happens with Kane.

Why do we act like we have no money when we are loaded?

We’ll probably replace Kane with a £40m centre back and a £50m striker and many fans will be duped into thinking we’ve done well, when the reality is we should have already bought spent £40m on the first centre back and £20-30m on a second centre back and then spent the full £100m from the Kane sale on Kane’s replacement.

The only positive for me when Kane’s sale was first made clear was the thought that we could reinvest the money in the squad. But that should have been on top of our existing business, we shouldn’t have been relying on the Kane sale to do the bare minimum we needed to do.
Do you think fans are dumb as shit? Duped my arse, some of us just accept the reality and deal with it. We know what Levy is, so you got 2 choices that lead to the same outcome. Bitch and moan, or just support the team and enjoy. I'm cool with either one

Only if the striker we bring in is the same value as what we sold Kane for. The 2x centre backs should have been brought in regardless of what happens with Kane.

Spending £70m on 2x centre backs and £30m on a striker isn’t enough. It needs to be £70m on 2x centre backs and £100m on a new striker/attacking replacement.
It needs to be yes, but it won't be.

This is a straw man argument. Where has there been anything to confirm or state that we have to sell him to sign centre backs?

Nothing to do with the fact he wants to leave? Won’t sign a new contract?

There hasn’t but unless we sign the 2x centre backs we need PLUS spend big on Kane’s replacement then it will be clear Levy has used the Kane funds to cover the business he should have already been doing regardless of the Kane situation:

Now that might still happen by the end of the window but the reports that we are still haggling on centre back fees suggests it’s unlikely we’ll be spending the £160-170m we should be on all 3 players.

I mean, it becomes a lot harder to do the latter given the things that are happening are more likely to provoke the former

By accepting the reality you’ve been duped in my eyes. Levy has you feeling exactly how he wants you to feel. We shouldn’t have to accept Levy’s ways even if we know what he’s like. If we do, how and why would things ever change?

It’s going to be so weird to not have Kane here anymore - to look at the line-ups and not see his name.

However, everything has to come to an end and it’s probably a good a time as any with Ange coming in and changing the style.

He just isn't.

Kane for this season, assuming he starts to adjust to Ange's tactics - which is not a certainty - is not the difference in making CL. But, not selling Kane, and then not being able to adequately upgrade LCB - could be the difference.

But, even if you believe that the only way we qualify for CL is with Kane - that is worth about £60M. But then we would be out of luck next season, with no Kane, and needing to replace Son also.

Is that a worthwhile gamble?

£86M now v. a potential £60M next year (or maybe just £0 next year if we finish 8th with Kane again)?
Odds of finishing 8th with Kane and No new CBs - Possible, probably not probable as Ange will get far more of a tune from this team.
Odds of finishing 8th with Kane and 1 quality CB - 1%
Odds of finishing 8th with Kane and 2 quality CBs - 1/∞

I get the sentiment to let him go because it far less risky even with our recent success at picking players. For me it still comes down to him. If he is willing to give Ange a chance, then keep him and sell in January even for one third the price. But if we did the smart thing, pick up two smart, fast CBs then i'd be willing to bet that the turnaround might be strong enough to entice him to stay. But it all comes down to his mindset and the club's willingness to aggressively pursue quality CBs. Sadly, the pessimistic view about the last two is probably the correct one.

The value of the players Brought in are irrelevant, as long as its the player Ange wants and needs to made his system and vision for the team work.

You'd actually be surprised how easy it is.
I used to be the former.
Tottenham's results defined my week, or at least my weekend. If someone asked me to define myself, I'd first and foremost be a Spurs supporter. I love the club. Always will.

Maybe cause I'm old, or maybe the last 3 years really took it out of me but now I'm fairly ambivalent, and I just want to enjoy my football. I've seen people go to the lane just to criticise and I'm thinking what's the point. Time waits for no man. This is meant to be our enjoyment. Enjoy it. Football just ain't that important in the grand scheme.

Blissfully ignorant inaction and inaction that comes as a result of being beaten into submission ultimately both come to the same thing, yeah

Out of interest why do you think this?

If I remember correctly, we've had stories from good journalists claiming the same. And Harry himself has said that he wants to stay at Tottenham, as long as we are progressing and fighting at the top. I believe Ange can get us back to that.
Thirdly, and this is just my personal opinion, I think Kane loves Spurs, and wants to win something here more than anything else. If he believes he can do that, he will sign a new contract.

Looks like the tactics by Bayern and the German media have worked exactly as they wanted.

I don't think it's the tactics they've used tbh. If anything they have made it harder for themselves as it has annoyed us. It's about the fee at the end of the day, the proposition to the player and the fact that we'd probably rather sell to a foreign club than have him leave on a free in a year to Chelsea, United etc.

Now is the time.

Absolute class player, legend.

But how we intend to play now is not the most compatible with Harry's current style and attributes.

I'm weirdly confident that we'll see scintillating football this season under the new regime and without Harry - and I don't mean that disrespectfully at all.
