I love Udogie.

We need to be able to pair him with a starting capable defensive LB. Porro/Royal. Udogie/LB
I think it's unlikely we'll be able to sign a quality depth LB when we don't even have European football this year. Personally I'd clear out our entire defence bar Udogie, Romero, Emerson, Porro and Davies. Then if we signed both VDV and Tapsoba we'd have two players who can fill in at CB or as a more defensive LB in Davies + VDV. Should also mean there's plenty of minutes for everyone.

You love Udogie after 45 minutes? :cautious:
Find the Udogie thread - I've loved Udogie since last year!

But, in the Kane thread, I think if want to keep Kane, we have to address LCB and LB in the next couple of weeks. This is the kind of team where Kane could really enjoy himself - but not if we play like Leeds.

I think Kane will last longer than your average athlete. He needs to be viewed in a similar context to Ronaldo, who was still exceptional at 35. Both model professionals who take care of themselves physically. And compared to Ronaldo, Kane has more attributes that are unlikely to get worse with age. If you said to me we'll have Kane as our starting striker aged 36 then i'd take that I reckon.

I think the closest comparison might be Ibrahimovic, who lasted a while and he had a lot more injury problems.
Tom Brady likely has had a strong influence

This is not the narrative at all, what the deal is, is the notion that he or any other players has not had the opportunity to win anything with us, which is nonsense of the highest order, they have and as a collective, including Harry they have not taken it
Not true, we lost to better teams simple as that. Liverpool had around 100 points in the league and are one of the most decorated teams in the Champions League. We were clear underdogs in that final, they were a superior team who then won the title the following season. City won the title and won 3 previous league cups so again we were clear underdogs. The best chance we had at a title was when Leicester won the league but even then it was early days under Poch. Kane scored 25 goals at around 22 years old as well so not sure what more he ciuld have done. Do people really expect him to win these titles alone? Like I said before teams win titles not individuals. If anyone thinks we should have beat Liverpool or City they're fucking crazy. They were 2 of the best in the world and we were far from that. Our issue with not winning titles is not because Kane hasn't done enough. It's that we haven't had enough players on Kanes level to match the best teams who have several world class players.

Brilliantly kept on topic.
For those who keep getting the ITK thread locked, this man will provide a tedtalk on how to reply to an off topic post but keep it on topic!

EDIT: Kane’s proper good at football.

I think he'd go but would look to return to England in 1-2 years imo. 30 isn't that old when viewed in that context. He's never been quick anyway, he could easily score 20+ at 35/36 imo.
His next team aren't selling him in a couple of years. He's going to be under a 5 year contract and similar to us have to run it down if he wants to leave in future.

This is the first indication that we prefer a sale rather than letting him run his contract down.

So looks like he either commits to a renewal soon or we look to sell him this window.

Lots of fact in that !

?

Eccleshare is one of the most reputable Spurs reporters.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Levy would rather pocket the £90-100m fee for Kane this season as opposed to losing him for nothing next year.

If he doesn't want to renew his contract then there's nothing we can do.

Think they’re just pointing out the number of ‘thinks’, ‘believes’ and ‘coulda’ in the initial tweet

All of it is opinion! The use of words shows he has no clue

Feel a bit better about the prospect of him leaving after watching the 2nd half today.

I mean, we couldn't finish for shit, which slightly contradicts my point, but we looked like a competent, high-possession, attacking football team in a way that we haven't for about 4 years with Kane on the pitch (barring the odd game of scintillating counter-attacking football).

I think with this system and attacking style we'll be much less reliant on Kane dropping deep to create and link the play as we'll have others that can do it for him. We won't need a superhero number 9.5 doing 2 jobs at once - we'll just need a competent number 9 that can play the system.

Obviously we'll miss him massively, but I don't think it will be an absolute shit-show if he does depart.

Honestly think Richarlison and Son will score plenty. Obviously as will Kane if he stays. I'm hoping he enjoys the football enough to stick around. It's funny really considering the manager he's linked with is Tuchel. I think I'd rather stick with Ange and then if it's not going great have your pick of teams like a Barca or City next year. It's great to win things but you also want to do it in style. Particularly if you haven't won anything yet.

I am a hopeless optimist.

I have long been on the "Sell Kane while he still has value" train. And, I am convinced that if we did sell him, it would not be the end of the world, nor even the end of Spurs.

But, I can't help but think the optimism within the club - and given how nearly all of the players have taken to Ange's tactics, and worked hard at implementation, I think the players are all on board -and given that optimism, that Kane may find joy and happiness playing at Spurs again.

He certainly won't sign a new deal this summer - so its a huge risk for Levy, but I now hold out a sliver of hope that Kane stays, enjoys the football, and sees a reason to sign a new deal by next summer.

Hear hear. If we're getting excited, the players must be too.

I'm sure all things being equal, he'd still prefer silverware with Spurs. It's best for his family and ultimately his reputation as a legend of the game. It does seem that his bottom line of spurs going in the right direction is actually happening right now. Premature to say it is, but that's why I still think he's willing to stick around for at least half a season.
