I understand the nerves with Levy and the £150M bid etc, especially after the Berba fiasco.

But that was 13 years ago! And I am far from a Levy defender, but I genuinely believe that if we received a bid tomorrow from City matching Levy’s valuation, even he would be likely to say no!

It’s plain to see to everyone that we need a striker regardless of what happens with Kane, if we accepted a £160M bid for Kane tomorrow, we would need a minimum of 2 strikers with 1 of them being very good!

It just doesn’t happen at this stage of the window, even with Levy pulling the strings. Kane stays IMO, with no backup coming in. I think going into the new season we’re pretty much as we were as far as tonight is concerned when the window closes

We are back out of the Champions League and even Europa. City are the biggest, meanest, richest bully of a club around and Harry wants to join them.

I will be shocked if he doesn't go, whether we get replacements or not.

I absolutely trust the ITK but I just don't think we have the resolve to stop this.

Blimey they really are dim aren't they.

City: So Daniel, £100m?
Levy: Nah.

48 hours later

City: Ok we've sat down and decided we can make another bid. £100m?
Levy: :banghead:

Its looking very much like many of us suspected, city thought they could get a bargain and now that they have realised they can't, they are just posturing.

Kane has been played like a cheap fiddle.

Its been a most unedifying episode for both he and City. We have emerged with our dignity and reputation intact, for once! After the pr disasters of the last year or so, we certainly couldn't have afforded another one!
City never thought they could get a bargain they just thought we may be able to strike a deal if they turned the players head enough, so far its not happened.

I would fancy our chances of getting 100M this time next year, so why would we sell this yr? Its too late in the window, possible replacements prices have soared, so none of the value people may have thought existed this yr, we must keep him now and think we will try add someone like Edouarde from Celtic, as backup on the cheap, though have my doubts about his attitude having watched him being part of Celtics shitshow last yr.

I just don't get why Kane is so set on ManCity who clearly are not that fussed if they get him or not. Rather than coming in weeks and weeks ago with a decent enough order to get us to the negotiating table (say £130+), they splashed out £100m on an attacking midfielder - precisely the position they already have plenty of - and promptly gave him the #10 shirt.

I also don't get this obsession with medals as a legacy. Alan Shearer is not accepted as a world class striker cos he won a single League title with a financially doped club. He's accepted as a world class striker cos he proved himself one over many years.

If City is willing to pay £150m on TW deadline day, then they should be able to pay that figure today or last week. If I were Levy, if City were to put in a £150m bid, I’d tell them that it’s too late in the window now and the price has gone up (£180m ?).

On the other side, I’m sure Fabio might have put a word to Vlahovic and/or Lautaro to hold on signing a new contract with their current respective clubs until the TW is closed, in case there’s a possibility of signing them for us this month.

But why would those clubs sell their best strikers with no time to get replacements in?

I think its more due to the covid and huge loss of revenues last term a lot was going to happen in the last week in general with all clubs, everyone playing a game if chicken with their counterparts but also wanting to get rid of players they want to enable new transfers

Im with Coops here. Kane has taken the soul out of the connection he had/was afforded with fans. He's just another footballer now taking a wage from the club. He'll never be a HODDLE, Perryman, King etc as good as he his.

Hoddle like Kane wanted a new challenge, went abroad then went to Chelsea after! King would of probably moved to a bigger club if it wasn’t for his dodgy knee I’m sure.
This has been blown massively out proportion imo.
Kane’s given enough for this club for him to at least deserve a decent/respectful reception from the fans every time he’s steps on the pitch wearing our shirt or not. Us football fans can be very fickle and have short memories.

If Kane doesn't ever end up playing for anyone else why should there be any continued antipathy towards him? IMO he could repair the damage so easily by stating something like:

His final decision is to end all speculation, extend his contract, stay here and do everything to help Tottenham to achieve what we all want for the future. Yes he wanted to leave to win trophies, but on reflection it would be far more satisfying to win trophies at Tottenham, not only for himself but also for his team mates and the fans of this great club all over the world. He knows that over the last few months he has damaged his reputation with the club and the fans by allowing speculation to swirl around and he hopes in time he can put this chapter behind him and win the love and trust of the fans once again. COYS

I think there would be fans out there cynical of a statement like this but I think it would be a great start. Combine that with selflessness on the pitch and plenty of goals and this May to August thing would be a distant memory.

Kinda disappointed Kane might not go. Don’t like having players in the squad who clearly aren’t committed to THFC so publicly. Would have loved the cash to buy quality all over the squad for players who want to be here
