Really lost with this. Citeh seem to now want to give us what we want (ball-park figure) and stone-walled response from us. Can’t make this out ?

wish we just get rid. More down to ‘can we get who we want?’ to replace him!
It's an interesting one because a few months ago I would have said that Levy might feel he needed to keep Kane in order to avoid getting criticised himself, but now I feel like the overwhelming majority of Spurs fans, as well as Paratici and Nuno, are fine with him being sold and he's still digging his heels in.

City waiting until the last 2 weeks to remember money isn't an object to them but us not being able to sell because all our targets have been tied or up otherwise shut down by the selling clubs would be the most appropriate end to a Kane transfer saga.

Harry Kane trained alone as the Tottenham Hotspur striker’s increasingly protracted Manchester City transfer saga took yet another twist.
The 28-year-old, who has not been seen in public this season, posted a photo of himself on social media at the club’s Hotspur Way headquarters while his team-mates travelled to Portugal for a Europa Conference League play-off. “Another session in the bank,” the England captain captioned the image, which showed only him in training.
While Kane tried to change the negative narrative surrounding his attempts to force a move, The Times learnt that if City want to sign Kane they will have to sell one of their players. Sources from within the club’s hierarchy admitted that: “If no one leaves the club, it is going to be difficult to complete any big signing.”

City, though, remain confident of recruiting Kane, but fear that the player may start to think that a transfer is not possible because of the tough stance adopted by Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman.
Senior sources at City confirmed that Levy was refusing to enter into any kind of negotiation, which has frustrated Kane. The Spurs academy graduate believes that he and Levy came to a gentlemen’s agreement last summer whereby he would be allowed to leave if the team did not win a trophy or qualify for the Champions League. They finished seventh in the table and lost the Carabao Cup final to City.

Tottenham said this summer that an offer of £160 million would be required to sign Kane. City value Kane at about £120 million but could throw more add-ons into the deal in an attempt to persuade Spurs to sell.
The tweet posted by Kane was the first public comment he has made since releasing a statement a fortnight ago in which he claimed that the five-day delay in him returning to Tottenham’s pre-season training was planned. In it, he described himself as “hurt” after fans questioned his professionalism.
A number of supporters responded by asking why it had taken almost a week for either player or club to make a public statement despite widespread media reports that Kane was on strike in an attempt to leave the club.
Kane’s desire to leave Spurs after ten years was known before the end of last season, with the majority of fans supporting his choice, despite him having three years left on a six-year contract, because of the club’s decline over the past two seasons. It is the manner in which he has seemingly tried to force a move that has upset the club’s supporters.

The growing disquiet of the fans was evident on Sunday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when, during the 1-0 victory over City, which Kane was not involved in, they loudly chanted: “Are you watching, Harry Kane?”
His absence for that game and for the Europa Conference League first leg play-off against Paços de Ferreira has been explained as a need to return to fitness after England reached the European Championships final. Supporters pointed out that seven of the 11 England players that started the final against Italy featured for their clubs over the weekend.

Kane is reported to be hopeful of being fit for the game with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday and Nuno Espírito Santo, the Spurs head coach who had breakfast with Kane, said that he was looking forward to seeing his star striker in action.
“He is better,” he said. “His fitness is getting better and better each day. He will work today and he will work tomorrow and he will join the group on Friday. Saturday we will make the decision of who is going to be involved in the Wolves game. Harry is our player. He is one of the best players in the world and we are very lucky to have him. He grew up as a Spurs player. He is a Tottenham Hotspur player.
“What we must be sure of is that when we decide to put a player on the pitch we have to consider all the aspects — the fitness, the mental aspect — and we are here to support all the players and Harry, of course, has all our support.”
To be able to raise their offer, City will have to offload one of their first-team players, with Bernardo Silva and Aymeric Laporte among the leading candidates to leave before the transfer window closes on August 31. City have already spent a large portion of their budget by buying Jack Grealish for £100 million, although the club say that purchase was part-funded by sales totalling £60 million over the past year.
After Pep Guardiola admitted two weeks ago that the future of Silva was uncertain, the 27-year-old Portugal forward did not feature in the league opener despite having trained with the first team for several weeks.
It is understood that Silva has had a gentlemen’s agreement with City since last summer, when they said he could leave the following year if an acceptable offer was tabled. Silva wants to move to Spain to be closer to his family. Arsenal had expressed an interest in signing Silva but he does not want to move to another Premier League club.
Barcelona had suggested a swap deal including one of their fringe players but City were not interested. They want cash for Silva but Barcelona are incapable of paying any transfer fees as they are £1.15 billion in debt. Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing Silva.
Laporte, meanwhile, is attracting the interest of Juventus. The 27-year-old centre back lost his starting place last season because of the excellent form of John Stones and Rúben Dias. It will be difficult, though, for Laporte to find a club who are willing to match the terms of his contract, which is worth about £160,000 per week.

I just can't get over some of you being happy with selling our best player to a competitor. Regardless of the money, you seriously think we're getting a player (s) close to his calibre. Oh and our deadwood is still here

Don’t think so. Think he’s suggesting they offered the right money and we flat out refused it. Possibly because the incomings are more difficult now.

Cheers, Herc. Personally, I'm happy if we don't sell him now, as I think Man City is about 2 weeks late.

If we sell now I feel we will struggle to get who we want in, just not enough time left.. We have to remember that the clubs we buy from also want time to get replacements and reinvest.

Would people be satisfied if the club outright refused to sell Kane, but also were largely done with incoming transfers outside of a loan or two similar to the Vinicius deal? I'm curious how many people want the club to take a hardline stance versus City expecting that there will still be substantial sums of money spent improving the squad irrespective of whether Kane goes and whether people's position would change about the sale of Kane to City if the club were not planning to spend much in the event he stays.

Think it's a bit of a myth that Nuno would be fine with Kane being sold. What he probably really wants is Kane back on the pitch and banging in (a shitload of) goals for us, and all the other things he does so well on a football pitch.

As Sunday showed, we can win without a player of Kane’s calibre.

We’ve won nothing with him. Zilch. Zero.

Now that’s not all on him, of course, but there’s a strong case to be made that we’d be better off with 3-4 better quality players than our current squad average, than with 1 exceptional player with dodgy ankles who doesn’t show up for big games and doesn’t want to be here, and WILL leave one way or another - even if that’s in 3 years for no fee.

Hes a wonderful player but let's not forget our two best wins in recent memory were without him

City away and ajax away.

Nobody is bigger than the club. We will move on.

I can’t get over what an over simplification this is, and how short term a ‘win’ keeping him would be

No one is suggesting we’d be replacing him with some of, at this moment, his quality.

But multiple players, with the potential to improve could leave us better off.

And his heart clearly isn’t in it now. I don’t see why that’s so hard to understand

Yep. The alternative would be to sell him and not get who we want/need anyway!

I thought Paratici had everything ready to go and was just waiting to pull the trigger? Herc's ITK makes it sound like we arent confident about getting our Kane replacements in. Worrying if true and links up with the latest media reports.

I do wonder what Paratici would do if he were given the ultimate say. Would he have actually started negotiating w City a week or two ago and sold for 120 knowing who he could bring in as replacement? Would he stand fast for the price like DL is? Really interesting.
An interesting week or so ahead! I'm strangely excited. I've never felt this way before. Usually when we are set to lose our best player I'm gutted and desperately hoping the window would shut before any sale. However here I'm excited and I actually don't mind either way what happens (providing we get a fee we want an invest)

But to a competitor? Say De Bruyne fancied Tottenham, same circumstances, do you think City would let him come to us mid contract, no I don't think so.
