As has been suggested, once you start to negotiate at a price with DL, it'll only go one way...in his favour.

£150M is a starting point, I hope! Plus 25-40M in add ons? Yes please!

and if it doesn’t then the closer the deadline approaches the more the price and levy’s pecker goes up!

For the right price I’d rather Kane was sold now. What made Harry special has already gone so I’d rather we allow this group to continue their start to the season without him or his drama lingering.

Levy should demand that City must pay in actual cash, all in those rare two pound coins where the Queen is wearing a necklace. That’d put the oil bitches off.

Kane being sold should only be to facilitate signing his replacement/s if it leaves us short then it would only be to our detriment it's not even worth a discussion.

meh. He was the best striker in the premiership. ? Think he’d be the third best in the bundesliga. Maybe second. I agree with the rest of your post completely. Just think the best striker in the world thing is a lot more of a discussion than us Spurs fans understand. And he’s not in the discussion for best player in the world.

I expect if I hated my eyes enough to look on a United forum opinions on the relative merits of Kane and Bruno would be aired in reverse to the way are on this one. Jumping on any glimmer of a reason to dismiss one and lapsing into transports every time the other manages to tie his laces.

Football is stupid.

Shhh, keep it down will ya, at least until we've shafted City

The Charlie/Kane relationship can be easily summarized.

We all have the dipshit brother/sister/uncle in the family. If there is an oddjob, we think "hey, dipshit needs money and I need my house painted, its a win/win." Kane tried to do his brother a solid by letting him be his agent. Problem is Charlie showed up to his house and painted the house pink and left motorbike skidmarks in the driveway. What a dipshit.

Kane really should've bought him a bar in Ibiza and let him put his surname on it. Much better idea than sabotaging his career

I don’t remember that, wonder why he wouldn’t have been happy with that?
I'm 90% sure I read that posted maybe in the window after we failed to get Dybala it wasn't immediately in the post mortem. I think I know which ITK it was but, to be honest, I don't think mentioning the name would be wise. It was a sort of an off-the-cuff remark in a discussion rather strictly an ITK msg posted, basically saying he was sulking about it as he might not be top dog anymore.

Anyway when I read it did make me think HK maybe a bit too much about the 'Harry Kane show' rather than the club. I'm sure someone else must have read it

One angle I haven't seen addressed by any of the journos is why in the world should we strengthen one of our direct rivals for a CL spot, who desperately need a striker, by selling them the league's best striker? I know that many on here have written this year off already, but last year we were 5 points off of a CL spot, despite giving up 23 points after a lead. With a properly fit team, and proper end-of-match tactics, our ambition this year should be a top 4 spot. It is certainly within the realm of possibility that we will be competing with Man City for that last spot. Certainly the possibility of Kane keeping us out of the CL has to be priced into any fee negotiated with Man City. Its a premium that wouldn't be paid if he were to go outside the PL.

I know people are saying £120m, £150m etc.

We should do another Andy Carroll-like deal and tell them it's Vlahovic + £70m and let them do all the donkey work.

Imagine Bernado is included in the deal, personally still feel like its possible and we might try to push it due to martinez/vlahovic updates, mendes links and all that, dont ask me why though

Have to say that the below comments from the article concerning Kane's unwillingness to submit a transfer request are hilarious:

"And there it is. The most openly disingenuous line in the whole sorry piece. The only reason not to submit a transfer request while engaged in such a naked attempt to leave is to keep hold of the loyalty bonus a player is entitled to receive when sold mid-contract. To pretend that he’s not doing so ‘because it is clear what his position is and what he wants to happen’ is to insult the intelligence of those supporters he apparently cares so much about. That The Telegraph allow this to go unchallenged is an insult to their readers."

Great article. As others have said, this little detail kind of gives up the whole game. If it's about principle/goals/winning, give the bonus up man. He's already stupidly rich and about to become even more so if him and his brother could stop prat falling over each other.

I'd also be curious to know whether or not this saga changes the structure/wording of loyalty bonuses in future contracts. Surely the reason they are inserted is so the club avoids dealing with scenarios that aren't half as fraught as this. What is the point of including them if a player can go against the spirit of the language while remaining entitled to a sizable sum of money?
