If it was all about the trophies for Kane he’d be open to a move abroad. He’s clearly in large part motivated by personal records. Which is fine. But he can achieve those here. So I don’t think we should feel cruel forcing him to stay. For me, it’s a rod, City or nothing. Anything else and I’m going to actively disengage with it all.

It should be noted that this is a clear knock-on effect of sacking the manager six days before a cup final.

Utterly naive and outright negligent from Levy.

I wonder if those who were leaping for joy then are as thrilled now.
You think League Cup would make Kane stay?

Can people stop suggesting players such as Jesus or Greenwood included in deals. These players will not be joining us and if Kane goes there are no favours. He can go but someone pays what we want not us being flexible.

We have a new man coming in, he can pick the players he wants not be be given other clubs are willing to let go so we can help Kane get his move.

Honestly not going to bother with the game today, gonna take the kids out instead. Hope we have a manager announcement ready as this club is just negative after negative for the last couple of years.

I’m so angry at the prospect of him leaving becoming very real.
Needs to be protests at training ground, stadium, during matches. Boycott all we can for THFC income. I appreciate not going to games for fans is tough. But don’t buy the merchandise, eat and drink outside the stadium. Bleed the ****s dry where we can, as whether they make a ton of cash or not, they have little interest in investing it to improve us. We pay more than any other fans in Europe, we’ve been sold a total lie and charged for an inferior product. Had enough!

Makes zero difference. He’d be doing this either way. We would’ve lost that final anyway, and even if we hadn’t the carabao cup is a trinket. Means fuck all.

The most worrying part of JJ's comments is the line about ambition....obviously we don't have any.....Selling a generational talent is his prime years to another PL team is indefensible....Well done Enic / Levy...

No.

What would have made Kane stay was feeling the club in some way matched his ambitions and was moving in the right direction.

We know this.

Sacking Mr Cup Finals, six days before a cup final, and replacing him with a guy who’s never managed a game, says to other players and managers - this board care more about penny pinching than winning trophies.

Couple that with the fact we know Kane, Son, Lloris and Hojbjerg were still backing Jose, and it’s not difficult to see how this was the final nail.

It’s not about whether we won it or lost it.

It’s about the board demonstrating beyond all doubt that their priority is not trophies.

If Kane leaves and it's a big if, I lay the blame 100% with Mourinho

Last year Mourinho failed to maintain top 4 but we suffered badly with injuries (including Kane's) so he could be excused blame. However this season with a much improved squad Mourinho has achieved less with the team than the sum of the parts. Precisely the reverse of what a good manager should produce. The fact we have failed to achieve top 4 by such a small margin makes our failure even more frustrating. I believe Kane put his faith in Mourinho this season given his track record and has been let down by poor tactics and team selection as the season fell away steeply.

I can understand Kane's frustration but the cause was avoidable, should not have happened and had we been managed by any of the current top 5 managers would not have happened
Agree completely.

The role of a manager is not simply to plug-n-play top class players into a team. It's also to improve players, as Gaurdiola does, as Klopp does, and as Pochettino did!

But even before that,

Our front three of Son, Bale & Kane are world class. In our midfield, NDombele, like Pogba, could be the fulcrum of a title winning team, PEH is a CL quality DM, GLC a CL quality playmaker.
Even in defence, we should still have been good enough, Reguilon is CL quality as is Alderweireld. Rodon or Sanchez should have been able to be coached to a top 6 level, and when Doherty arrived, he was easily top 6 qaulity too. Lloris is world class.

Our backup is also easily good enough, with a wealth of players that would walk into any mid table first team.

Yes, we're not title quality. But Mourinho started this season with a squad more than good enough to be solid top 4 and to be in the title mix for much of the season.

If he was within 30 goals of greaves reckon he would have stayed another 12 months but he needs 41 and won't get that in 1 season
Also he thinks he'll be able to come back once he's won everything with someone else & then focus on individual records with us

He didn’t rule out abroad in the future.
