Please drop this notion of Kane playing deep. He is a striker that has many editions to his art.
Why? I'm not convinced being a striker and playing deep are mutually exclusive.
What he did for England was as a striker. But he was still able to roam, wide and deep, and influence the game. As well as playing on the shoulder at the right times.
Importantly, the players he had around him were quick attackers with plenty of licence to get into the box. There may be consequences to this defensively, and that needs to be considered, but it's far less binary than he plays as (1) a striker or (2) plays deep
