At least it looks like Poch is taking the FA cup seriously this year. We just need someone else to knock out City.
We will never match City for spending, we have to do it differently.
Eventually we will have to match them because if we don't they will just keep spending until they form a squad that will win trophies more often than not.

How though? Eventually we will have to match them because if we don't they will just keep spending until they form a squad that will win trophies more often than not.
Sure we might win the odd trophy here and there if we continue doing things the way we are but if we want to become the biggest club in world football then the only way is to compete financially in my opinion.
Impossible to match City financially.
They already have. They're backed by a country. Sorry but there's no way we will be able to compete.
We need to stop the fixation with just spending more money. We can't though. If we spend £200m, then City will spend £300m, if we offer £250k a week, they'll offer £350k a week. There is no point getting into a spending arms race with them. We'll lose.
Ultimately we need a bit of luck for that elusive trophy. City to have an off day in the FA Cup this year and get knocked out, us using our Wembley familiarity to our advantage in the semis and final, etc. The first trophy is always the hardest for any group.

He's said the same thing many times before.Turning point there I feel, 1st time he seems to have even openly acknowledged the possibility of leaving, starting to soften his stance and prepare us... Crazy wages elsewhere still has to be the main reason, they go hand in hand anyway, highest wage payers get the trophies normally, so effectively saying wants more money too...
At the end of the day, we are at the point where if we are serious about winning things, we need to pay up every summer to get the player (or two) we need. We needed Zaha, but he signed a new deal with Palace and we end up with Llorente. We needed Mane but ended up with Sissoko. In making those signings we are quite clearly communicating to the squad that we don't intend to take that final step. For starters we need to change our behavior in the transfer market. With regard to the rumours of a big signing in the summer, I have no doubt it will fall through, as always.
I have a feeling that everyone's waiting on what happens in the summer, from what I've heard it certainly feels like there's gonna be wind of change in regards to contracts and wages.
Nowhere quite like this glorious website for people to go insane about a few arbitrary quotes. What a place
