a tap in and two penalties. A bit like when he won the golden boot at the WC yet was totally underwhelming.

Penalties should NOT count towards a player's goal stats. Its absurd.
Well that would be encouraging for players wouldn't it.

"You take this one H"
"Nah pens don't count, do they?!"

I don't think you should count penalty or headers or free kicks when counting goal tally.also miss kicks or goals from other parts of the body oh I forgot back heels don't count either. that really leaves plenty of scope in deciding the top scorer.
Can we stop this stupidity right now and most people would agree that however or lucky or how many free kicks or penalty kicks you score from its the man that gets the ball over the goal line the most is the top scorer deservedly. However that feat is achieved .

Wow. Don’t count penalties? Sometimes I enjoy reading the good points made and debates people have on here but other times I’m sat here wondering what the fuck I just read ?

I thought he was good today. More dynamic. More with the ball at his feet moving towards the goal.
Three and the assist in four. Another goal, offside rightly disallowed but up there with Sterling and in position.
All comes down to him being played in the right position with a good shape and support for two wider players.
Not this Moura, Son, Lamela stepping on each other’s toes forcing Kane wider and deep none sense we’ve been trialing.

Best all round showing form Kane for a while

Similar to byes and leg byes in cricket only the score changes - the batter doesn't get credited, just the team. I propose the same for penalties. Most of the time the penalty has been won by someone else and that's the hard part!

I feel like pens are inflating his stats - saying X goals in so many games just proves my point. Sonny, Moura... they all have to prove themselves without.

Regarding Kane in particular I'm frustrated that he's been playing bang so average for such a long time now and has become an incredibly dull player to watch too. Nevermind, hatrick hero today I guess. Depressing that I'd be more excited if Kane gets subbed for Mount at the Euros, forgetting of course that Kane can only get subbed off in friendlies, or games that have already been won!

Because byes and leg byes have fuck all to do with the batsman and relatively speaking the value of a run is significantly smaller than that of a goal in football. You seem to just assume that a penalty is a given with little skill involved whatsoever which is absolutely ridiculous and having a striker who seldom misses is worth it's weight in gold and clearly you've been spoiled by Kane's ability to come to your conclusion but I highly doubt the likes of Terry, Messi, Griezmann, Baggio share your sentiment.

You can't just decide an arbitrary line for measuring what goals count to an individuals tally based on your perception of difficulty that is so fucking stupid it beggars belief because where does it stop? Do we decide open goals no longer count, tap-ins? Or maybe we just accept the measurement of a goal is a goal.

Ronaldo has taken five more penalties than Kane over the last couple of seasons.

I suspect people won’t want them not to count eh?

There’s something of an agenda against Kane, weirdly.
