For not going all in to challenges at the half way line? Not really.

In a way this is the benefit of Eriksen not going all in, he's never having these kind of injuries.

I agree - he didnt need to go in for that challenge at all. I understand why he did it because it is the CL QFs and up against a team who we need to press against but it was the half way line and Delph wasnt going to do much with the ball in that instance.

This guy says he needs an operation and not rest ?

Kane may have to consider ankle surgery – leading surgeon
https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/kane-may-have-consider-ankle-surgery-leading-surgeon
Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane may have to consider having surgery on his injured ankle, a leading surgeon has said.

Kane suffered a “significant lateral ligament” injury in his left ankle during Spurs’ 1-0 Champions League win over Manchester City and, although the club have yet to put a timescale on his return, he is unlikely to play again this season.

The Three Lions skipper is susceptible to ankle ligament damage as this is his fifth such injury since 2016 and the second to his left joint this year.

Surgeon Mark Davies, a leading specialist at the London Foot and Ankle Centre who has operated on Premier League footballers, says that going under the knife could help restore the strength of Kane’s ligament to what it was before his first injury.

“At some point I think they would think about doing something surgically to stabilise the ligament, which is quite feasible and should restore the problem happening in the long term,” Mr Davies told Press Association Sport.

“I would certainly talk to him about the what advantages of having surgery would have.

“If he wasn’t playing football and he wasn’t going over on it then I wouldn’t do anything about it but every time you turn your ankle you run the risk of lateral ligament damage in the ankle.

“He’s not that old, he could do with a stable ankle if he wants to carry on playing long term without it happening again.

“It is a routine operation because the ligament needs to be tightened up and that is fairly easy.

“If he were to have surgery, the surgeon would almost certainly use an internal brace, which is a device which you put over the ligament repair and it is incredibly strong.

“It means you are not just relying on scar tissue regaining strength so it would improve his chances of coming back.

“Nobody is immune to spraining an ankle, you can have the strongest ligament in the world and if you subject it to enough force it would sprain, but you should restore it to pre-injury levels of stability.”

The surgery would put Kane out of action for around three months, which may not be much longer than he could be expected to be out anyway.

The England striker does have impressive powers of recovery, though, as he returned to action two weeks quicker than expected earlier this year and is targeting a return to fitness for a possible Champions League final and UEFA Nations League semi-final in June.

Davies, who has operated on Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea players in the past, says Kane’s quick recovery rates have not made him more susceptible, neither has a full on schedule which has barely seen him get any rest over the past few summers.

He's not that old, he could do with a stable if he wants to carry on playing long term without it happening again.

Dr Mark Davies
“There is no merit in him having an extended rest, they are not sending him back too early, it’s just that he has got an unstable ankle,” Davies added.

“When you suffer that injury, the ligament doesn’t get as strong, so the slacker and slacker it is going to get, the more frequently it is going to happen.

“They do get him back very quickly, but they wouldn’t send him out if he wasn’t ready.”

That's my wife's boss! She's a podiatrist and has treated many footballers, inc. Spurs.

Team news: Harry Kane has "commenced rehabilitation"...

He couldn't, could he?...
Surely they'd know if it was bad enough to put him out for the rest of the season, and you think they would have said that if it was the case? Who knows?

He's going to be back soon, he heals quickly through sheer willpower. The man is a beast.

Imagine if he's back for the 2nd leg?!

I think we play better without Kane when he isn’t 100% fit, he usually takes a while after an injury to hit his peak. We saw it when he came back in March, and we saw it last spring. I’d rather see him using May and June to recover, and hit the ground running when the season starts.

Indeed. Creates quite a conundrum if he finds fitness a week or 2 before the semi, or the final if he's not fit for the semi.

As you say, we've seen it before when he's returned. Our momentum seems to be taken away. The guy is unquestionably our best player, our talisman & figurehead. You'd think he'd be a necessity for the games I've mentioned, yet our form, performances & results have unquestionably dropped when he's returned from previous absences.

Best scenario is he miraculously gets fit for the ('final'!!!) and we stick him on the bench. Comes on for the last 30mins and drives the team to victory
When he came off the bench at the emirates in the league cup he did that exact same thing

It's good for everyone that he doesnt walk straight back in and its brilliant to have him coming off the bench

That's the most important thing, I reckon. It actually annoyed me a bit when he was just instantly reintroduced to the starting line-up after his last injury.

The team really pulled together while he was out & went unbeaten as a result. Then, well you know yourself what happened after that. Our worst run of league results for years & went from being in the title conversation to praying for 4th place.

I can see your thinking but Pochettino will never leave him out if fit!
We are so far away from knowing what’s is actually going on it’s impossible for us to call it.

Are you lot suggesting dropping Kane?

Are you reading what we've said/are saying?

Not a single person has suggested dropping Kane. How can we drop what isn't/won't be playing?

What we're discussing is the conundrum about throwing him straight back into the starting line-up, if his return happens to coincide with either the semi or the final, should we get there.

I believe Pochettino believes Harry is a moral boost for the whole squad when playing.
I think he should sometime be held back.
But Poch is a Harry fanboy
