At this point hoping Bayern will stick to their deadlines and just pull out. This really needs to be settled one way or the other and Levy gives two shits about disrupting our new manager and start to the season if it means a few million more quid.

Harry Kane will be discussed at a meeting of Bayern Munich's executives on Monday as they mull over their pursuit of the Tottenham striker, according to Sky in Germany.

Bayern Munich are still waiting on a response from Tottenham after the German champions submitted their 'final offer' for Kane worth more than €100m including add-ons.

Kane, who wants his future sorted this week before the season starts, is planning on travelling to Barcelona for Tuesday's friendly against the Spanish giants.

Tottenham head coach Ange Postecoglou says he is 'in open dialogue' with Harry Kane over Kane's potential move to Bayern Munich.
Although the situation could change swiftly if there is a breakthrough in negotiations.

One of the reasons Kane wants his future sorted out now is for personal reasons. His wife is due to give birth in a couple of weeks and she can no longer travel.

It is understood that this is not a negotiating tactic from the Spurs striker's camp - Kane wants his future to be resolved one way or another this week.

This doesn't need sorting any time soon. Just stop scrolling about it. Spurs have never sorted their transfer business way ahead of the deadline and that's not gonna change now or for this player.

The best window was when it shut just before the season started. That was abandoned for covid or a tournament or something. It would be great if they brought that back.

if we want success this season it’s clear that we shouldn’t let him go. Bayern have acted like dicks and I’m really not supportive of letting them get their way.

what we all need is clarity though

If Kane really is sticking to the "if I'm here at the start of the season, I'm staying" then there's a very decent chance we keep him I reckon.

Can you really see Bayern and Levy thrashing out a deal and us also lining up replacements within like 5-6 days? I can't.

Which, assuming we are talking something more like 50m, would seem to be something DL could agree to.

it does seem to always come down to how much HK values a move (and CL football) right now.
If the ITKs say he's off then this may be moot but...

The problem with a release clause at his age is it gets expensive very quickly. I think I've said this before but he has no incentive to sign a new contract now unless we gave him absolutely stupid money and he knows that there will still be clubs who could beat it next summer when he's free.

If he stays this window and we want him to re-sign next summer then that clause has to be a token amount. He would be stupid to sign a deal that means in the summer of 2025 when he's 32 a club would need to spend £50m plus wages to get him

Would have to be £20m perhaps dropping to £10m and could get quite messy in negotiations

Therefore, IMO to keep it simple and after everything that's happened, if he was good enough to stay and believe in the project then I would suggest that we just make it £1m (one million) every July for the length of his contract

So he is crystal clear that he has a get out every summer if things are not going the right way

Edit: I see there was more discussion of clauses after the post I'm quoting and somebody else suggested a tapered one and that it should be low

I agree. 50m might work for next summer, but I did follow up and concede that it would need to decrease with time and that 20m then 10m would be more appropriate. 20m for next summer would still not be too bad on reflection as it saves face for Levy and isn't too prohibitive for other clubs. Not sure negotiating that gets too messy.

The incentive for him is still the additional money he gets for this season which could easily be £15-20m more than his current deal and I am sure he doesn't really want to have to relocate if he doesn't have to and he might really be curious as to what he can achieve with Ange's system and the PL record. Hitting that seems more achievable than going to BM who might or might not win the CL whilst he is there.

Why would you want to move country, change jobs etc. When your wife is about to give birth, seems mental

Having kids is hard enough without all that additional stress

Of course it needs sorting soon. We can't have this situation dragging on until the end of August. It directly affects the rest of our transfer business, but more importantly Ange needs the clarity before the season starts

Because footballers don’t always get to choose. Most of them are still young when they are at their peak and have young kids. They also have the kind of resources to cushion the blow of the kind of stress you are referring to.

I’m not saying it’s easy but it’s not like Mrs Kane won’t have loads of support available to her if she needs it- this isn’t the case of a single mum having to juggle jobs and kids worrying about how she’s going to afford this month’s rent or groceries.

Yeah I agree. It's all very well saying it doesn't need to be sorted any time soon but selling Kane near or on the last day of the window could seriously hamper our chances this season.

Them lot down the road have spunked £100 million on England's starting DM, and have spent £300 million, making them the highest spending club in Europe in this window.

We're flogging one of our greatest ever player to buy a couple CB's.

As the kids say; levels. :(
I honestly couldn't care less what they've done. Or any other team either.

Tbh, now that any new signings have missed pre-season anyway I'm not sure it really makes that much difference when they arrive as they'll have to get up to speed once the season is already under way regardless.

Selling Kane on the last day of the window might actually benefit us if he plays in our first 3 games and we pick up points as a direct result. Then we can bed in the new signings over the international break in early September.

I was thinking more of the implications the Kane deal has on our future transfer business. If it goes right to the wire, we may not have time to do the business we might have done, the old "we tried but couldn't get the paperwork done in time" excuse.

They are beginning to mention alternatives to Kane in the German media... Kicker has made a 4 minute long video where they speak about Bayern's options if they don't get Kane 🤔

Nothing crazy... but they are getting worried for sure.
