Those 2 themselves no but think bigger picture in terms of the full rebuild and kanes current contract situation.Do you really think they're good enough to make up for Kane's almost guaranteed 40+ goals and assists? If they hadn't been bought by Ange would you think differently?
Fair mate entitled to your opinion.I understand what you are saying but I respectfully disagree regarding those players being of the required quality.
They are huge risks, Kyogo especially, he works hard but gets bucket loads of chances in that Celtic squad.
Jota is quality on his day, but a little inconsistent imo.
Playing a team of the park is all well and good but they missed numerous chances and I’m pretty sure Kyogo was one of the culprits.
They could potentially cut it but I’d be expecting players that are a tad more tried and tested than the aforementioned.
We obviously need to back our manager and all, but regardless of what Ange wants there's just no way Levy will allow Kane to go below 90m in my opinion (and perhaps even 100m).The only opinion that matters is Postecoglu’s. If Harry doesn’t promise 100% then he’s gone -and Harry in my experience only does 100%, so personally I expect him to stay this season.
Yep fair points mate but it’s the situation we have got ourselves in with kane so Q is what can we do to make the most of the situation right now and I feel that £90m+ offer especially from a non PL team is the best way to go, then give that on top of a hopefully already fairly healthy budget and Ange could build an exciting new team. But this is the point: transfers are such a crapshoot. There's so many reasons a lot of transfers don't work out; players don't settle, managers change, injuries, personality clashes. You're trading a quantity that almost guarantees 25+ goals a season for the possibility you'll get that again.
People refer to Coutinho but I'd argue a) Coutinho wasn't the best player at Liverpool at the time and b) there's a reason he's the only player people cite. Us with Bale, Liverpool with Suarez, Everton with Lukaku, Villa with Grealish, Monaco with Mbappe. Yes, the possibility is there that you improve, but it's so so unlikely. You're starting with a massive step back.
no way levy is offering that much to someone in their 30s, even kane, he's an accountantI know many think that Levy won't ever change and I largely agree. But what we also know about him is that he does view things very differently to most people. Whether that is delusion, misplaced confidence, pure stupidity I don't know but it is possible that he really does believe that under this new regime and with the right investment in players, Kane will be persuaded.
Thinking about the numbers further, I can therefore see a scenario where we get to the end of the window, having rejected all offers and then Levy says rather than sitting on your existing salary for the next year whilst you see out your contract, here's a new 5 deal worth £400,000pw (£20m per year) plus a massive signing on fee (£20m+). How we have fared during pre-season and in the first three games, especially against Utd, could then be the deciding factor in how Kane responds to that.
Of course, the other view is that Kane has heard all about fresh starts before and simply can't be convinced in any circumstance.
I think he would as its a much better investment than trying to bring in a replacement who would want a bigger financial package (and a transfer fee would likely be involved) but be subject to the risk of not settling/performing.no way levy is offering that much to someone in their 30s, even kane, he's an accountant
If he gets us into the CL, it's worth a lot more than £80mThe elephant in the room here and a point that I think a lot of people are missing is that next summer HE GOES
I don’t think anyone in their right mind would say sell him if he had just signed a new 5 year deal but he hasn’t.
It’s £80m for 1 season. Nobody is worth that
I think he would as its a much better investment than trying to bring in a replacement who would want a bigger financial package (and a transfer fee would likely be involved) but be subject to the risk of not settling/performing.
And if he's not prepared to go to those amounts then this whole debate is academic. Kane will not stay for anything less.
I tend to agree, I just think Levy won't be prepared to put an eye watering enough figure on the table, even for our greatest ever player, to make hime bite. He'll walk for free in 12 months I strongly suspect.I think he would as its a much better investment than trying to bring in a replacement who would want a bigger financial package (and a transfer fee would likely be involved) but be subject to the risk of not settling/performing.
And if he's not prepared to go to those amounts then this whole debate is academic. Kane will not stay for anything less.
Well there wouldn't necessarily be a deadline to accepting the offer so yes, it can play out longer beyond the end of the window if Levy will really not sell this summer at all.Even if he did offer that money (personally i doubt it), theres also no way kane is going to decide to sign based on preseason, training and 5 games of the season!
A gentleman’s agreement? It’s hard to give an opinion from the outside without knowing what’s what but you’ve got to ask yourself how likely is it that Kane stays with us next season? To pluck a guess out my arse I’d say it’s less than 10%. Then you have to ask yourself where would he go and to pluck another figure out my arse I’d say 90% likely he stays in England. That is a unacceptable scenario for me if we are offered good money for him to go abroad now.
it’s possible he stays if we have a great season (title push) but even then no guarantee and that is extremely unlike. Best case scenario for us next year is we scrape 4th and that won’t be enough, neither will a FA or League cup.
You have to take the emotion out of this kind of shit. The reality is he’s gone next year and more than likely to a rival, if we can prevent that now and get a decent wedge for it we’d be stupid lot to take it imo. Having said that if he has given us some indications behind the scenes that he could potentially sign a new deal if we get 4th next year then I’d be more than happy to roll the dice I just can’t see that being the case.
Yes totally. But if Ange wants him to stay - he stays. We obviously need to back our manager and all, but regardless of what Ange wants there's just no way Levy will allow Kane to go below 90m in my opinion (and perhaps even 100m).
There are some things Levy simply won't compromise on for better of for worse and Kane's price will be one of them.
A gentleman’s agreement where he signs a contract would be preferable.A gentleman’s agreement?
