I'm not convinced that he isn't trying, to me he looks like he has lost a yard of pace.
Read somewhere Conte wants him to shed some weight off - totally agree. I still feel the 3-4 seasons ago he bulked up was the point onwards where he lost those pace and acceleration.

Same to Dier.

He's way off the pace. Really beginning to worry me
I think the lack of preseason and two years of coaches with poor conditioning has caught up with him. He’ll either get some of it back with Conte’s training, or this might be who he is as a player now.

For a lesser player, I would be worried, but I think Kane will adapt to any change in pace and thrive. It may take him a few months, but he’ll figure out how to create space with his (brilliant) movement and get goals still. Especially if we improve the midfield and he feels more inclined to stay higher up the pitch.

The only positive we can take is he can’t have a worse ‘2nd half’ of a season . We are sitting in a decent position , hopefully we can get a couple of signings in January and Kane and Son can peak in the latter stages cos let’s be honest both have been pretty average so far and I can’t believe they won’t get better .

At least teams will always give him respect, best defender will mark him (Kalvin Phillips for example) and with his passing he will free up space for others. Sooner or later he will start scoring too.

Could it be that he’s also saving himself?

He’s going to have to play most matches in December. Last time he did that, he did his hamstring and it ruled him out for the rest of the season. He’s had a lot of football since it restarted. So it could be playing on his mind.

I think his overall game has been quite good for Conte. The effort is clearly there again. The goals will come. He's probably experiencing the first sustained period of self doubt in his entire career.

I think he’s only just shrugged off the non-transfer malaise with the arrival of Conte.

His body language seems different and he absolutely looks like he’s now putting in the effort he clearly wasn’t previously.

Even if he’s not scoring himself, he’s linking play well and unlocking opportunities for others.

He’s effectively in ‘pre-season’ and I reckon he’ll probably go on a good run in the New Year.

That chance he had where Krul was miles off his line and completely out of position was an absolute sitter for someone of Kanes ability.

Would normally score that blindfolded
Still can’t believe he missed it

Let's hope he starts now- we will need everyone firing on all cylinders over the next month or so.
TBH I still recon he's been promised a move

In each of the last 3 league games he's had a big chance and failed to convert. At least this shows he's getting back in to the correct positions which he wasn't doing for the first 10 games of the season, he just needs to get his confidence back. I think as soon as he has a game where he nets a couple it'll be a weight off his shoulders and he'll start scoring freely again.

How can you score 7 (or however many it was for England) and lack confidence infront of goal?

Think it was a more difficult chance than people are giving it credit for, the ball was running away from him and it was a split second decision he made to go for it, dare i say it he maybe snatched at it a little.

On what basis?

He is not scoring. He is not assisting. He is not holding the ball up well.

I will concede that his play has been better than when he failed to turn up for August, September and October - but that is a pretty low bar. If we had any viable option, he should be benched, but we don't, so he isn't/

You're right. If we had a viable alternative he'd probably be benched. I guess what I'm saying is what you said. He's better than he has been, which isn't saying much but now I think he's short on confidence. City somewhat shafting him by unsettling him and then not even making a proper bid has clearly affected him and he is now going through the dryest period in his career.

He is involved plenty, just needs to find his scoring touch again.

For the record, I'm still down as "fuck him" in the poll :D

In the summer he thought he was bigger than Tottenham Hotspur FC. Not sure I want to go as far as preaching Karma. But this must be a little bit humbling for him. If we had a decent back up they’d definitely be shouts fo him to be dropped. Personally I still think his contribution is just about worth a place but I’d love to see us with a fast fluid front 3 but I’m not sure if Bergwijn is up to it. But it shows just how quickly even the brightest star can fall. Players should never believe they are bigger than the club especially one that has actually built his whole career.
