He said he starts training on Saturday, the club told him he starts on Monday. If I call in to work and say I've extended my holiday and they tell me I have to get my ass back to work, I'm in the wrong.

So 'spurs are not willing to negotiate'.

If thats the case.....what is the non negotiable price Levy has set?

In my opinion, this statement is intentionally ambiguous and will not be the last one he makes. He clearly feels that the City move may not transpire and wants to save a little bit of face in case he has to return with his tail between his legs, but he also doesn't want to commit towards staying or apologising on the off chance that he gets his move.

At the end of all this there will be a second, probably pre-written statement either apologising and committing to stay, or thanking the fans following his move. This statement says nothing and is a total waste of fucking time, a pathetic attempt to pacify a situation caused and made worse by himself.

Great and next season if another player decides he wants out he can just do the same or maybe it'll be two of them or three of them. Easy, just book a weeks extra holiday and get a move to another club on your return. I mean every club we ever tried to sell to would be telling the players to do exactly the same.

"Yeah we want to buy your client but fuck paying what Spurs want. Tell him to be a prick for a few days and they'll sell him for a much reduced price, and we can make it worth your while".
Post of the year.

For what it's worth, I don't want Kane to leave. And although his statement is either not believed or not accepted by the majority of people on here, it is the ONLY thing he can do to start repairing and accepting he is here for a longer term than he had actipated.

So I for one welcome today's statement.

Exactly that. It's a holding statement. Neither one thing nor the other and demonstrates that he and is dipshit brother/'agent' are still not understanding the situation.

I'd never boo any player wearing our shirt, but total silence when his name is read out, or fans turning their backs when he does the walking over to the fans clapping after a game would speak volumes.

Always enjoy your posts. if is all there is, then agreed. He certainly hasn't done himself any favors with this weasel worded post. But we don't know what we don't know so the only way he gets back in without the treatment you allude to is a) show real contrition b) get support from the whole team showing that those who know him best means he turned the corner. short of that, i like your ideas

He’s been an ass and everyone knows that. The statement basically lets him still hold the cards to his chest as his move can swing either way. We will know more in a few weeks.

I thought it was from Trainspotting when they shot the dog in the ass.
Haven't seen that film for years now - probably 20 of them!

It was the specific "don't piss in my pocket and tell me it's raining" when they try and get the jump on Dragan and they are already one step behind.
