Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and defender John Terry could miss Sunday's Carling Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur, BBC Sport understands.

Both players were on the bench for Tuesday's clash with Olympiakos, with only 29-year-old Lampard taking to the field for the closing minutes.
"(Boss) Avram Grant would not confirm their participation," said BBC football correspondent Jonathan Legard.
"But I'm told the pair are set to be left out again."

Chelsea manager Grant had recently expressed his delight at the speed in which 27-year-old Terry had recovered from a broken foot sustained against Arsenal in December.

The Blues captain returned to play the full 90 minutes against Huddersfield in Saturday's 3-1 FA Cup fifth round victory.
Midfielder Lampard also played in Saturday's match, scoring twice to help his side ease into the quarter-finals.
Sunday's final at Wembley kicks off at 1500 GMT.

neither manager will be resting anyone on sunday - both will choose their srtongest XI - if that includes Alex or Robbo or whoever - the victory will be still as sweet for either side as it will be the strongest available in the managers' eyes

Terry is more important to the team than Alex but Ballack kicks Lampards ass any day of the week.

I take your point Michey but if Alex plays instead it's cos Grant thinks he's the best choice available

erm..not really. As much as you hate the twat and I hate Lampard more than most, he is massively important to them. If I had to bet on anyone scoring for them on Sunday, it would be him.

I don't agree with the Terry comments here. I don't think he's as important to the team. Carvalho is a better defender. I have a feeling a lot of the players on that team aren't big fans of John Terry. The only reason I'll be happy not to see him is because I hate watching him get into the officials face every 10 seconds and complaining. It has nothing to do with his play.

They will play. Why else would Grant rest them v Olympiakos when they're both supposedly fit.
