Them lot paid £20m for Trossard and an additional £7M in add ons. And he's a back up player

Strictly comparison for an established EPL winger/striker versus a chao from the Belgian first division.

€30m is too much for a non established player who hasn't cut his teeth yet beyond one of Europes least competitive leagues
Trossard is not a striker
His age is 28 and he had just 18 months left when he signed for Arse.

Richarlison was bought with a view of being the 'Kane replacement' or do people conveniently ignore this?

Richarlison will be in situ even with Orban being brought in and might well be utilised as a wide forward at times too.
Yeah, I didn't want the guy and felt he'd be viewed as a poor buy in a few years but he's here now and finally can play striker so let's see what he's got with a run of games.

Him and Son and Veliz backing them up.

I don't think that's a guarantee of success but I'm in a rebuild mindset so I'm okay with seeing how it goes and reassing in the next window.

No idea if this guy is worth £30M, but who else are we getting at £30M or less that is either an unknown element or a mediocre player.

This not meant as a we should just buy him but is a general question. Ferguson is going to be over £100M (brighton wont sell), Vlahovic £70M, Toney £40M-£50M+ (guess)

Is he one of the most exciting prospects in Europe? Genuine question because I haven't seen him play except for YouTube clips, and I doubt hardly anyone on here despite screaming for this to get done are any different.

I'd much rather a player with more of a sample size personally even if it costs more. So many players have break out seasons only to fade into journeymen, and €30 mil is too much of a gamble on a fairly unknown quantity imo.
i remember when we paid £4m for Sean Davis and i thought that was the big leagues

Agree, a lot of people asking for him simply because 1) hes not Richarlison and 2) We sold Kane.

I remember us breaking the transfer record for Gascoigne for 2 million, people were saying it was madness back then.

Football is moving at such a fast rate , I don't know a thing about Orban but 30 million for a kid smashing goals left right and centre in Europe and in the last champions League game sounds about right especially when his club have seen how much we just got for a player.

Striker is the one position I think it is imperative we go for someone with a longer record and more proven.

I wouldn’t be against signing Orban and loaning him out however.

Aye, with Son getting older it seems like some sound succession planning.

Since you ask, I think Beto at Udinese is at least worth a look.

He’s the most prolific striker in Europe the only player with a comparable goals to game ratio is Haaland at Molde, then Salzburg and he carried that on at Dortmund now of course City.

I’d say that’s a pretty exciting prospect, no?

Is David at lille not a viable option. They were asking for 50m. His record is good, and more proven in a higher league.

Yeah, agree with this.. The market is weird, but the striker market is bat shit crazy. Am not saying he’s the answer, but am not sure what else we can look at in that area for that money. Man U spent double on a guy because he looks like Haaland ;).

£30 million on what is essentially just a punt is far too much to be honest and I say this as somebody who is excited about the kid. Really I think £20 million should be the limit.
