Surely the club stands to make an obscene amount of money from merchandise, shirt sales and sponsorship from a potential marquee signing like Bale?
And if he breaks his leg in preseason training it's a total waste and still have to pay him £600k a week.
Rationalise it all you want but for every reason for there is also a reason against.

"A return to Tottenham Hotspur has been mooted, but sources close to Bale's former club say he is considered far too expensive, and would greatly have to reduce wage demands for any deal to even be remotely possible. "
Not necessarily - depending on the structure of shirt sales with Nike.Surely the club stands to make an obscene amount of money from merchandise, shirt sales and sponsorship from a potential marquee signing like Bale?
Im saying the depth is not great. We would rely on Vertonghen and Sanchez staying fit through the whole season again if one of them picked up an injury like Alderweireld I wouldn’t be that confident. Not saying we need an overhaul just one really good CB when/if Toby leaves. Quoting Foyth, CCV and Dier(who doesn’t even want to play and I think is suspect there) is not going to cut it when push comes to shove.

Is that the equilibrium of winning sod all in the last 30 years?
If you’re happy with staying at the level we are, each to their own.
I want us to sign players that will make us better, turn draws into wins, turn semi final appearances into cup victories. If Poch is worth his salt he should be jumping at the chance to sign a 3 time CL WINNER. He’s the one chirping about the next level.
Gone are the days of buying poxy Sissoko, Llorente, Allnof those little £10m flops in the last 2/3 seasons.
Love the project and it’s been good so far but We’ve got to break through the previous ceiling now, mentally and with results. Bale would do that instantly.
“Be brave” !!!
Is this source named Thomas Paine?https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...verhead-kick-latest-offer-wages-a8371531.html

We should be real about these figures. Tottenham doesn't sell loads of shirts. It's simply impossible for Spurs to sell shirts related to one singular player to an amount that's actually noticeable.Surely the club stands to make an obscene amount of money from merchandise, shirt sales and sponsorship from a potential marquee signing like Bale?
BAM! We need to start thinking bigger on the transfer market. Stop all this N'onsense and "But he was so great for Newcastle against us" shit and start signing actual renowned players. We have established ourselves as a top 4 club, and with that comes the responsibility of changing our transfer attitude. Fewer signings of higher quality to improve only the trusted core of great players, and fill the occasional hole otherwise with home-grown kids.As good as this team is we’ve hit a glass ceiling. A signing like this would go some way to smashing right through that.

The first and last itk I'll probably ever get, but from the Bale family; he's going Man U.
Feel free to shoot it down but passed on in good faith.
Cuz he wrote Common Sense...just wanted you to know that someone got it.Is this source named Thomas Paine?
I just don’t understand why any attacking player would want to go play under Mourinho.
