He's not much of an athlete though is he? Brilliant footballer but that's not what Arsenal need.

Not denying they have other needs to be addressed. Christ Capoue is exactly the sort of signing they need to be making.

But make no mistake, Ozil would improve there attacking play even more. An absolutely class footballer, in every sense.

Who's to say they'd get him and wouldn't go out and get a few more in...in the areas they need.

Bottom line, I hope they don't get the guy. He'll just make them stronger regardless.

Got to laugh at this goon (note the dates):

@GuillemBalague

The Bale deal will confirmed in the next few hours

@GuillemBalague

The Bale deal could be confirm before tomorrow night or on Friday (Real wouldn't want to overshadow Raul homage at the Bernabeu tomorrow)
TBF to the guy how many times has bale signed for Madrid in this window, lol

Everyone has said he has signed and then cool off for a couple of days and then say it again

Yeah, I know he's class. I'm tired, and even more lazy than usual in expressing my pov, I just meant that Arsenal adding another creative CAM type to their squad isn't going to make all their other glaring weaknesses suddenly go away. Even so, I hope they don't sign him as he's better than any of their other creative talents (with the possible exception of Cazorla, whom I rate highly).

Okay, I'm going to let this pass as you're tired, but as you're normally sensible I'm going to try and ignore the fact you just said Cazorla is better than Özil :D

The dude who gets subbed off around the 75 minute mark every game. That guy?

At Real Madrid... they're squad is overflowing with attacking talent so it's hardly a stain on his ability, especially given their normally about 5-0 but that point in each game anyway

Sorry if already posted but just saw this on twitter and made me laugh.

@BrooksDT: Fun Fact: Gareth Bale has been sold to Real Madrid approximately 345 times this summer for a combined total of €8.2 trillion.

I don't see why that's such a ridiculous claim. Cazorla is a brilliant technician, can play the final pass, work his way out of tight spots, hit double figures from midfield AND make it through a 90 minute game ;).

He's not what they really need, but in a team like Arsenal's he'd be extremely potent.

Don't see them actually going for him though. Nor do I see him fancying that move.

See above comment. Also, Soldado hasn't made it 90 minutes for us yet in the league, does that mean he's also not very good? ;)

Özil's stats from the last 4 years:

12/13 Played 60, scored 15, 29 assists, 4241 minutes
11/12 Played 62, scored 9, 35 assists, 4646 minutes
10/11 Played 65, scored 15, 37 assists, 4806 minutes (Real Madrid)
09/10 Played 58, scored 12, 33 assists, 4738 minutes (Werder Bremen)

Cazorla's stats from the last 4 years:

12/13 Played 60, scored 15, 16 assists, 4930 minutes (Arsenal)
11/12 Played 53, scored 11, 9 assists, 3921 minutes
10/11 Played 65, scored 10, 14 assists, 4766 minutes
09/10 Played 31, scored 6, 5 assists, 1885 minutes (Villarreal)

09/10 both relatively weak leagues at the time, both Europa league teams, I'm going to presume Cazorla had injuries but even so, double his games, goals and assists and he's still not close to Özil.
10/11 Same league, Özil in a better team but Özil smashes him in the same amount of games
11/12 Again same league, Özil with a few more games but way more assists
12/13 Different leagues, Cazorla in the tougher league and Özil with the better team but the stats aren't really close.

Cazorla's also 4 years older than Özil so Özil will get better whereas Cazorla is in his prime now. I wanted to see the comparisons as I thought maybe I overrated Özil and thought I might as well share as it's interesting to see how they square up, and though stats aren't everything I can't see Cazorla as better.

Anyways, we'll leave it as a difference of opinion (y) Just remember who you're supporting on Sunday :p

On average he was sold for 23,768,115,942 euros each time? We're being robbed.

TBH the ozil to arse rumours are that crazy, Madrid havent sold a player to champions league rival since Sneijder and Robben both turned up in the Bernabeu for the CL final. Madrid are desperate, desperate for that 10th CL cup and selling Ozil to one of Germany's and Englands Elite will make it harder for that trophy.

Finally Ozil's dad(agent iirc) has been saying for a long time that he wants his full 90 and not the 60mins jose use to and he has always been sure of themselves and I think Arsenal with CL footy and lets be honest in no position to challenge for a CL will suit Ozil and Real Madrid

@matallanas just tweeted this (retweeted by Sid Lowe):

"La negociación por Bale se bloqueó hoy. Tottenham pide 85 millones de libras (100M€) y el Madrid se planta en 80 millones de libras (93M€)"

Which I think translates as 'Bale negotiations stalled today with Tottenham looking for £100m and Real Madrid offering £93m.'

Could someone clarify?

You see, this is where RM are going wrong...they think this is a negotiation.

If Ozil will go to Arsenal, he'll come to us. It'd be much easier for Real to push him our way, too.

OK, they have CL ATM, but realistically they won't win it and at the moment we are looking just as likely to be there next year as they are.

There's nothing in the Ozil to Arse rumours. I refuse to believe it.

That's exactly what it says, apart from the currency. Libra means pounds, you changed the euro values to pound values. Offered £80m, requested £85m.

Why do they call it Libra? So do we £ is just a modified L (libra)

libra solidus denarius in Latin is our old money pre 1971, known as LSD.

Also why the weight pond is written as 1lb

I am bored!

I would sign Ozil in a heartbeat, he is fantastic.

He took Werder to 3rd place in the Bundesliga, a Europa League final and German cup final, then the next year with literally the exact same squad minus him they were we in a relegation battle. If he was the core of our team I'd stick £100 quid on us to win the title and wait expectantly :p

I'd be happy enough with him plus maybe £20m for Bale, especially if we bought Lamela as well.

Özil is just a natural born assist machine. Probably gives a fantastic reach-around.

What would his options be if he left Real? (regarding a new club, not working the handjob circuit).
