The article from Diego Torres (El Pais) is centred on one thing. An alleged agreement between Real & Bale to buy him this summer.

Spurspanyol@spurspanyol
It is a civil agreement which states that IF Madrid don't buy Bale before the 3rd of September they'd need to pay Bale & co 20M.

Spurspanyol@spurspanyol
Madrid, naturally, deny this deal exists. Levy believes it to be true and for that reason is making them wait as they can't pull out.

Spurspanyol@spurspanyol
Madrid, apparently, offered Spurs a "100M€: accept or the deal is off" on Tuesday and Levy didn't even bat an eyelid.

Spurspanyol@spurspanyol
Levy remains relaxed about the whole scenario and says the worst case is he gets to keep Bale for another season (his value won't decrease).

Spurspanyol@spurspanyol
So basically Levy is relaxed as he believes Real have a 'civil agreement' with Bale to sign him so will get his money either way. They wait.

Spurspanyol@spurspanyol
Finally, it mentions that Levy is giving Bale as much time off as he needs because it's not his problem if Bale doesn't arrive match fit.

Watching that video brings backs some awesome memories. He will be missed. :(
I loved it, although in the back of my mine I still thought that there probably wasn't as much in there as there could be for 100m (or 78m)

Bigger clubs than us have been shafted over players by Real Madrid - 6 months after this article they signed Ronaldo for £ 80 M

By Steve Wilson and agencies2:41PM GMT 18 Dec 2008

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has emphatically dismissed claims in the Spanish media that a deal had been struck to take Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, insisting he would never do business with "that mob".

Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported that the two clubs had a gentlemen’s agreement to transfer Ronaldo to the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

The paper quoted a conversation between a Real Madrid director, Pedro Trapote, and one of his business associates, to support the claim, reporting that at least two other senior club sources had leaked

FA's damning verdict on Manchester United
But an incensed Ferguson denied he would be willing to enter such an agreement following a summer of bitter dispute with the Spanish champions over their relentless pursuit of the Ballon D’Or winner.

“Do you think I would get into a contract with that mob. Jesus Christ, no chance,” said Ferguson. “I wouldn’t sell them a virus.”

Speaking after watching his side beat Japan’s Gamba Osaka 5-3 to reach the final of the Club World Cup, Ferguson added: “That’s a no. There is absolutely no agreement at all between the clubs.”

Ronaldo indicated in the summer that he wanted one day to play for Real though Ferguson claimed a victory in fending off their interest with angry words exchanged between the clubs.

However, the latest outburst from Ferguson will plunge the relationship between the two clubs to a new low.

At one point a move in the summer looked imminent, with a figure of £80 million quoted in the British and Spanish press. But, increasingly annoyed with the conduct of Real, the United manager dug in to prevent any deal happening.

Real president Roman Calderón claimed at the end of the summer that they would not pursue the player again until United were willing to do business though maintained the club were still interested in the player.

But El Mundo reignited the row in publishing the transcript of a conversation between one of their reporters and Trapote.

“If you are asking me what we are going to do now then I would tell you that we have already signed the best player for the summer,” Trapote was quoted as saying after Real’s recent league defeat to Barcelona.

“The best of the best. It is Cristiano, there is no other. It is better that we do not say anything at the moment though.”

“Why can you not say anything. It is the best time because things are going badly and people need something to excite them in the middle of all this,” suggested the reporter.

“No,” replied Trapote, “it is best to not say anything because there are some clauses that prevent us from announcing it now. For us it would be a good time, but should not do that. But it is not bad, eh?”

Ferguson knows the speculation will not stop. However, he wants to try to concentrate on his own team.

"Real blame anybody but themselves," he said.

"I said to (chief executive) David Gill a year last summer when we sold Gabriel Heinze he could bet his life this stuff will all start up around Ronaldo in January. It will happen again this January.

"We just have to ignore it. If we worry about what Real Madrid have to say we are not concentrating on our own publicity and the programme of difficult games we have got coming up.

"Sometimes they create an angry situation and sometimes I get really annoyed with them. But we know their game. I think we should play ours and ignore them."
