We wanted Kessie, thought that we had a very good chance and were negotiating, in the meantime Milan are stalling or Kessie is saying he wants to wait. Next thing, we see that he's been stalling us and now we've had to change tact and go for a short term option until we have better picks.

Bissouma is a good shout but he has this incident hanging over him, as it to see if he's innocent then get him, if not there will be other choices.

Any players we seem to want that are available on a free this summer, seem to want Champions League football and we will not sign them now because we cannot guarantee it. If the player is willing to come now, we do not think he is good enough. Id love Bissouma but the incident, like you say just means we wouldnt go near it.

Not overly fussed. With a number of top clubs in financial distress it was always going to be very difficult for us to sign the most highly sought-after players available on free transfers. It's up to our scouts to identify players to strengthen us in CM in the summer (assuming Amrabat does not impress while on loan).

Well the summer plan of Kessie and Vlahovic is off to a great start already and it's only January, but it does give us 6 months to really plan for all the holes in the squad and traditionally we've been absolutely excellent at that
