with the pool still owing us from the keane deal arry should table a £10m offer for babel who with the right manager will fulfill his potential alot sooner rather than later. my view is as good a player downing has been for boro for £15m i would rather see our club sign babel and michale jonson off city for £17m-£18m instead.

I doubt Liverpool would sell us Bable (plus he would be a big risk as to wheter he could be consistantly good in a team like ours) no why will city sell Johnson to us either

You somehow think that Ryan Babel wants to leave Liverpool who are top of the Premier League and still in with a chance of winning the Champions League to come to Spurs who are languishing at the bottom of the league?

But Babel wants to play, we could offer that. I was too thinking that he would be good signing for us.

babel was making alot of noises about needing 1st team footie? as for michale johnson he's probably played a couple of games for city this season in the uefa qualifiers thats about it. wheather top of the league at the pool or at money bags city all players want to play and not be a bit part here and there...

I'd love Babel instead of Downing, but Liverpool wouldn't sell him, especially not to us, and I don't think he'd come to us.

Zhirkov is getting paid about £3m a week at cska and will only move to a much bigger club than Spurs. Good shout as he's a great player, but like Arshavin, too great for us.

Zhirkov is out of our league unfortunately, I say go for Drente (Real 9Mil) or Urbry Emmanualsen (spelling) from Ajax for 5Mil

Accidrenthe? And I've been seriously unimpressed by Emanuelson—nothing special at all. Pranjic is the best LM in the Eredivisie, and wasted at Heerenveen.

Johnson, BTW, has been out for ages with a seious groin strain. Still can't make up my mind about Babel, but I can't see him coming; there was a story a while back that Ajax wanted him on loan, but Liverpool said no.

No. .. Want Downing... Need Downing...

Babel isn't really much of a left winger is he either? I thought he was a right-footer (although has played on left for both Ajax and Liverpool) and he also wants to play up front centrally.

Pissed tonight by any chance Sp3akerboxxx?

not at all mate, just every player that people have mentioned tonight i have long thought as a bad player. i've always thought downing was rubbish and me and my uncle watched the liverpool game last night and were literally laughing at how poor babel was.

We should buy another left back before a left winger (competition for BAE) and put G Bale on the left wing (ready made)...IMO he'd be a much better left winger than a left full back plus we have Gio back and O'Hara can also fill left side mid..although I fell O'Hara now deserves a good run in the starting 11.

use that allocated money and buy reinforcement to central mid.

I would rather have neither, I think they would both be overpriced and would not be a massive improvement to the team.

O'Hara should be given more of a run out and I wouldn't mind seeing Bale played as a LW more often, as he would do his defensive duties as well.

The Waddler rates Babel, and reckoned this was going to be a big season for him. I'd hesitate to disagree with the Waddler's opinion, but from what I've seen of Babel—admittedly little—I just can't get worked up. You get the odd 'Wow!' moment but mostly it's 'Meh'. I'd definitely go for Downing, who's hugely underrated on here.

But I'd sooner Pranjic.

Babel over Downing 9 times out of 10.

The only time Downing wins is that he is genuinely left footed (often too left-footed)

Babel's younger, faster, more direct, and provides more upfront, although will leave a gaping hole defensively on the left, but that happens these days anyway........................
