Things'll probably pick up again now we'll be back to 1 game a week, he'll have done well to guide us to top 4 twice. Though the football has been dire for most of the season

Surprised at the change of attitude by some after the one win. Don't have a problem with the performance today at all, in fact it looked more like the Spurs of the back end of last season to me, but I also didn't have a problem with West Ham at home, City at home or Chelsea at home but it's what came in between that was very worrying.

It's the Saints away game that will be telling as far I'm concerned and then Everton away to follow. It could be enough from now until the end of the season if we start to show form that sees us winning the games we 'should' be winning but I'm much more concerned with the away performances than home.

We have been here before where we have one or two decent wins followed up by utter tripe. Todays game was good and a positive and was a fairly convincing win but we all know something isnt right around here. We all know it. So I think we need go get that fourth and focus between now and end of the season on getting that spot then see what happens. But this also needs Conte to stop talking as he has been over the last week.

It must be said though, Forest are shit and you can see why they only scored (now) four goals away all season.

One game a week Conte a proven commodity. Appeared really fiery and up for it on the touchline. Team fought similarly. In the top 4. Gives the club much more time to really work together to come up with a plan for the long term future. Let the natural progression happen: Conte finishes the season, clearly neither side wants to continue beyond that, and have the plan in place as soon as the season ends.
This is exactly why I said before the Milan game that we shouldn't just fire him if we go out.

Now the performance and things he said after actually made me question my stance on that but I don't think firing him with no plan was the answer.

Conte has proven to be quite poor at managing 2 games in a week these last few months.

But I think week to week, he is the best chance to obtain top 4 rather than an interim coach.

And I really hated the idea of Poch til the summer as that just adds more layers of confusion.

The club need to spend these next two months helping the team secure 4th AND putting all the plans in place so we have a smooth transition into a new coach and potentially new DOF.

Conte staying allows us to do a thorough search and process rather than a rushed panicked decision because the last 3 appointments have all been that.

Exactly. It's why I just enjoyed the Chelsea game for what it was in isolation and didn't get too carried away, as I knew we could then just go and lose to Wolves. Just like I know there's every chance we can now just go and lose to Saints or Everton because our performances are nowhere near consistent enough or good enough away from home mostly.

I definitely don't think Conte should have a future here beyond the season, at all. For me it's just whether we'd end up benefitting from sacking him prior to the end or not.

If we don't get good results there might be a point letting Conte go before the summer. Hopefully we can make a strong finish, so Conte can leave in good fashion and we can plan both new manager and see what’s happening with Paratici case.

He literally said it in comparison to how much more competitive the league is this year, and how it gets harder every year to stay competitive at the top.

What’s with the inferiority complex? Not everything he says is belittling the club.

Its not this one comment, he's been saying the same shit since he arrived, like he's too good for us and we should be happy with our place. I'm just sick to death of it considering the dross football he's given us and the complete lack of taking the cups seriously. Yes there are massive problems with the ownership but he's not blame free in all this, far from it in fact.

Unless we tank the next few games there is zero reason to fire him unless we have a replacement ready, which we very clearly don’t. Now we just need to take the time we have to closely look at all the candidates. I know many people have just had enough and are picking apart and reading into everything he says but him winning does us a massive favour. The more time we have to carefully pick his replacement the better.

Clearly. How can people just forget the performances just because we beat Forest at home? Along with the constant put downs in every presser. It's infuriating
I can confirm that today's result has made me forget everything and i'm so happy that I was cartwheeling around the house naked. Until I accidentally squashed my old chap as I planted my hands on the floor.

It's odd though because he doesn't look like a manager who is going anywhere, rather odd.
I get the feeling that for all the passive-aggressive press conferences and recent dourness, he's so intense and deeply passionate about winning that, even if he knows he's definitely leaving, it's not in his DNA to give less than 100%.

Even though we've had some shit results and performances recently, I think Conte's still our best bet at getting top 4 this season.

I mean if he is staying till the end of the season, get chatting to managers and DOF’s now.

Sound them out on their vision and their expectations and be honest about what will be given to them.

A manager who wants to be here would be a start, one who appreciates the opportunity and massive salary to be at a well known club with decent history.

We have to use the time wisely and actually plan what we are doing just for once - give the new manager a full pre season to get working.

We need a manager to relish being here and want to take us forward, and want to be successful, who improves the players that are here, and who, if they can’t be given 80million pound players for every position looks to find different ways to be competitive, not one who takes a high salary to make out he’s doing us a huge favour just coming to work each day.

I’m pragmatic - I think he’s guaranteed to leave at the end of the season but if he can see us through to the end of the season in the top four there’s no reason to get rid unless we have his successor ready to go.
