He's been given ten new players costing about £180m and we've looked worse and worse.
How many games have Romero, Kulusevski, Richarlison... even Son, Moura missed this season ? ... and now Bentancur... it's not an excuse for Conte.. but we've never had any rythm this autumn/winter so far.

Can’t blame a shit bench for that performance. We were almost at full strength from kick off.
contes footy just doesn’t suit us. We need to move on.
Almost at full strength other than Kulusevski & Bentancur who revitalised this team last season & Richarlison who might just make our bench a tad stronger - lol unbelievable

There were from the signs but guess what? The arsenal fans wanted him out. If they got their way he wouldn’t have lasted 2 seasons.

Did you not see how well we played under Conte during the second half of last season? We were easily the second best team in the league. He deserves time.
I wouldn’t sack him btw. But we weren’t *that* good second half last season. Big wins vs Villa and Newcastle were masked by poor first half performances and we were turgid against Brentford and Brighton. I’m not convinced his passive approach can ever be as successful as we want it to be in the long run.

The blame game doesn't work for me. So many are at fault for the situation we are in.

Levy has failed to capitalise on the squad we assembled and a generational striker coming through the academy. A scattergun approach to hiring and firing managers and then failing to back the direction they want to take us. Always feels one step forward and two back.

Players underperformed today, stinkers left, right and centre. Too many players below the level required, again this falls on Levy not addressing the squad adequately and consistently. Two good windows don't fix an issue, the best clubs are constantly looking to improve the level of their squad. We are trying to fill major gaps in our squad constantly.

Conte does not play exciting, attacking football. Does not typically stay long term and doesn't seem like he wants to be here. He is stubborn and rigid with his formation and choice of players. Mentioned in the match thread brining kn Emerson instead of Spence was point proving and stupid.

We need huge changes as a club, we need ambition and action at the top. Wanting to succeed is not enough, you have to commit to it by backing the direction of the manager you choose. You cannot change direction or penny pinch as this will not work when you are competing with the top teams.

We need investment and to rebuild the squad, Kane will leave. He will not sign a new contract so we have to be preparing for that already. We need to be aggressive in the market, move on the deadwood and players we know are not cut out for the level we aspire to be. We have quietly assumed some good young players on long contracts Romero, Bentancur, Bissouma, Kulusevski and Richarlison need to be built around for the future. We have Sarr, Spence, Udogie, Skipp, Scarlett and Gil as talented young players. There is still a lot of work to be done but I think now is the time to start again and do it right, we are too far off to achieve anything this year and need to maximise the next two windows to be in a better position next season.

Is Conte the man to do it? Not for me, he is not a creator. He is an incredible manager but not right for what we need IMO. However, if he was fully committed to rebuilding to challenge over a long contract I could understand the logic in keeping him. Even if his football does not excite me there is no questioning his achievements in the game.

In short, I think we need to rip off the mother of all plasters and start again.

Lol. Laughable. Spending and backing is different. Why is this never understood. Spence is clearly not Conte's player. We can spend 200 millions on players but it will be useless if they are not what the manager wants.
My point is that we’ve wasted a lot of money on the likes of Lo Celso and Ndombele at the top of the market, and that impacts our ability to spend elsewhere

We can’t spend what we don’t have

Whilst true, he won the Lonsdale Europa Conference Milk Cup, only one notch up from the Audi Cup we so victoriously snatched from European giants Bayern Munich.
We would all be celebrating for days of Spurs won the same trophy. Don’t belittle it to try prove a point, it’s a proper competitive trophy just like any other.

Equal to an EU carabao if you ask me.

Honestly, it’s just the end of the era when we were good.

We’re about to replaced in the top 6 by Newcastle, and every other member of the otherwise big 6 is MUCH better placed than we are for sustainable success.

Genuinely, I see:
- Son and Kane leaving, for not very much, for various reasons
- us definitely missing out on top 4
- as a consequence, with how strong the other teams are, we revert to a perennially mid table side

We will still have the cheese room though

I genuinely wouldn’t have celebrated winning the Europa Conference league. The winner gets a spot in Europa League qualifiers ffs.

If a defence is leaky with a numerical advantage in the middle, how on earth would we be better off with less players in the backline? The quality of the players doesn’t magically change with the formation. Even though Conte favours the 3 CB method, we would be way more open at the back with only 2.

What ???
Did you see our 2nd goal when Villa midfielder walked into the 6 yard box with none of our midfield runners tracking ?
Do you honestly believe more CB in backline means its a tight defense ?

Defense starts from the front. For us, Kane barely presses, which is understanable.
Today, first half Villa had 6 in backline when we had the ball and we had 3 CBs free with 2 CMs free to pass the ball sideways to eachother. We didnt need a extra CB...especially today, when we didnt have options anyway upfront.

We could have packed the midfield, kept it tight and gone for the odd goal. Anyway, all undone by Lloris howler, followed by midfielders not tracking Buendia

He’s won more with Roma - who are not very good - than Conte, Nuno, Mourinho, Poch, Sherwood, AVB and Redknapp combined won with Spurs.

We can denigrate and belittle that all we want.

But that’s the reality.

We're at the stage where everyone's assuming Conte's going. Just like with Poch, where I assumed we wouldn't be that fucking stupid, the momentum is building...

I don’t think the appointment in itself is the problem, just back the manager you sign adequately to match their style.

No, you appoint a manager that suits the club and material at hand that he can build upon, taking the opposite route is destined to fail. At least outside sportwashing clubs.

Jose and Conte win things but it costs money to get the players they want. Quality costs a ton these days.

So they've won things on top resources on corresponding leagues? We are not a club that has such. Moreover they have - especially Conte - absolutely no credentials they can manage successfully a club that is a challenger with more limited resources. Well Jose has that CL run with Porto that started his career close to 20 years ago. But Conte?

If you’re going to half arse it or let someone like Levy put shackles on them, don’t bother with serial winners at all. Accept mediocrity with the slight chance of glory by divine timing like the Poch era.

Yes, we won't have resources to buy them the highest paid squads, so these managers who won't perform without such offer fuck all to Spurs. Nada. Nothing. It has been evident since appointment of Gooner George but yet we persist on those. Now Klopp was whole different thing with Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool beating the odds, we ought to keep eye for such appointment instead of appointing these managers that have proved fuck all in environment comparable to Spurs.

It sounds good in theory - but in reality, one name pops up every where - Daniel Levy.

Levy hired the managers.

Levy set the transfer strategy - both buying and selling.

Replace Levy with a competent chairman - and you solve a lot of problems.
