Pretty much all teams run out of steam against us in 2nd half.

Wondering if teams will stop preasurring us in 1st half so much. Their 1 on 1 pressure on our back and mid line is working but so exhausting.

Maybe Conte is 1 step ahead of other managers after all?

The posts at half time are ridiculous. What do you want him to do when he's not on the touchline?
I think most people had a problem with the first half not the second half. To say we are playing too negatively is far from ridiculous. The second half of Bournemouth and today shows that we can play better football but we only do it when we go behind. That’s down to the manager and how he sets us up.

It was the same last weekend.
Made the changes to win the game both games. Slow, poor starts aside, we continually fight until the end. THREE last minute winners in a week (one was disallowed of course but point still stands). Get rid of Conte and you get rid of that never give in mentality.

Increasingly sure I know nothing about anything, because I cannot understand how this keeps happening.

A game of football is 90 minutes. Just try keeping your knickers on for the full 90 for once and you might enjoy the ride

100%, The posts at HT were embarrassing.

Well, I made some of those posts and I don't feel the least embarrassed about them (and I get easily embarrassed). You know what's actually embarrassing? That football we played on the first half.

Yeah sure, but will it be enough in the long run?
Fuck knows.
All I know is we’re third in the league and just topped our CL group.
I’m signing off for the night, let all the upset fans shout ‘Conte out’ into the Internet while I have a couple of beers.

Yes, i can agree with that, but I expect better football with clearer patterns in possession.

I mean, we’ve conceded first in each of the last five games and been shambolic in the first half of all of them. The first time we actually attacked Marseille tonight we scored, and Kolasinac should’ve scored at the end (the same way Sporting should have scored before the VAR stuff last week). The point is we shouldn’t *need* these knife edge wins. We’re better than Marseille, Sporting and Bournemouth.

Last season showed we didn’t rely on game state to attack. Whatever combination of players and manager is at fault for the timid starts, idk. Maybe the players aren’t carrying out the automations to Conte’s liking as he stated after Bournemouth. Maybe the coach is instructing them to save energy for later (which is my best guess). Maybe the players are doing it themselves. I’m convinced two games a week and the forward injuries plays a massive part in this. Can’t go full pelt 180 mins a week with maybe 14 fit outfield players Conte trusts. Last season shows the players and manager can produce scintillating stuff no matter the game state, and I’m confident we’ll be stronger later in the season after the WC (as Conte’s teams always are).

I think he will sign a new deal by January. I think he really likes the club, and leadership structure, and most of the players he has.

I think the Club's (and Levy's in particular) reaction to Ventrone's death really showed Conte what a class organization looks like.

Certainly hope so because these players are capable of funner football than this. Delighted we won but wish it wasn’t such a slog so often.

What makes me very confident is for the most part it’s the exact same group of players and manager who were blowing teams away last season. Personally I would like to see him use the squad more (or add players he’ll play in January) as the second half of the season will still be 2 games a week for the most part and if it is player fatigue that is causing our issues, then that will still be a problem if we go far in all comps.

We have injuries to key players and are playing every three days. Our depth is better than last year but we don’t have sufficient quality to fully rotate. Loris said after Bournemouth that with the schedule they have they can’t press 90 minutes every game. It’s clear we are trying to let teams blow themselves out against us first half and then go for it second. Could we manage those first halves better? Definitely. But it’s about getting to World Cup in top 4 in league and into UCL last 16. Strengthen again in January and hopefully a few injured players back and we are in a good position.
