We do, but I doubt he’ll rotate the team anywhere near as much as he did last night again. We were awful last night, but I don’t think rotating one or two of last nights line up into the team is a problem. The problem comes when they all play at once.

The team could carry Doherty, Dele, or Ndombele one at a time, it’s obvious we can’t carry them all at once.

Been saying that for a while. Dropping one or two in to the team shouldnt have too much of a drop off (as long as the spine is still there) its when you change the personnel in pretty much its entirety.

That was suicidal IMO. But perhaps he wanted to see how they would respond in order to confirm, or otherwise, his opinions of some or all of them ?

He must have said he needs time 10 times in the post match presser.

I think he thinks he hasn't got the fans onside yet. The half time booing vs Leeds won't have helped that perception.

I think Conte has the fans on side its the players and board who are in trouble!

His press conference was quite interesting. He wasn't ranting and raving but seemed genuinely surprised by just how badly pretty much the whole team performed. They seem unable to do the simplest of things - trap the ball, pass to feet, play out of pressure and I think he may have been a little bit shocked.

Dropping out of the competition is embarrassing but may be the best thing for us this season. It will allow Conte more time with the players, fewer distractions and so more focus on each PL game which is one of his key strengths. This isn't to say I'm happy about it - it's a competition we should be looking to win at a canter but that's not looking possible now, so we need to look to the positives.

Yeah, that is true. Hopefully we can stay relatively injury free.

I still worry though that he’ll have to rely on largely the same players just to get a semi
decent performance.

I rate and love the fact we have conte in charge . But why 9 changes when we needed to win?

because these are supposedly premier league level quality players playing a team ranked 397th in europe. We could probably get 11 of us from here and give em a half decent game.

This has always been the case though. Poch was constantly saying stuff like "time to act like a big club", "the new stadium is like a nice house with no furniture", "maybe just change my job title to coach", and even as far as "If we win the CL maybe I'll just leave the club".

You can't say Levy hasn't been warned about this.
It's funny how we have had and have the best managers currently in the game, and they are all echoing what we the supporters have been saying for a long time!!!

What's our best starting 11 at the moment?

Lloris

Romero - Dier - Davies
Emerson Reguillon
Skipp - Hojbjerg/Winks
Lucas
- Kane - Son

It's obviously not good enough for top 4, etc. But I do feel it's enough to get by until we can address some areas. Some of these players haven't disgraced themselves yet either and had nothing to do with last night.

Romero is out of course, so we will have to do with a weak plaster for that. Hopefully, we can get by without injuries and having to use any of the chancers from last night.

Maybe Lo Celso can come in and show something. Sessegnon and Bergwijn may fair better with time under Conte.

The rest are not up to it.

that in itself is scary, the bolded players i dont think are good enough & you coukd easily add reggie & PEH into that on recent form.

If you’re basing that on recent form you can also add Kane and Sonny to that list!!

The time to stop worrying about the feelings and sensibilities of a bunch of players who habitually let the manager, the club and us fans down has long since passed. It's about time they were called out and brought to account. Fuck them. Thrown them under the bus....pffffffft
shouldn't it be the time for worrying has passed, not stop worrying...just saying

agree, and i want kane gone, sonny though he's our only truly world class outfield player ( although he does have too many dips in form )

Conte's comments last night were just right. He wasn't cruel, he was direct and was understated in his comments. He sympathised with and thanked fans who'd journeyed to support the club, and stated that players have much to do to raise their playing level. That will have applied far more to some players than to others, but then he was referring to the performance of players as a team last night.

A couple of players have cooked their goose or are close to it, I suspect. Poor passes, lack of concentration, slow decision-making, having the ball so easily taken off them, etc. Others have merely fallen down the ranking of Spurs players hoping for selection in matches, while some others we didn't see last night have, in effect, seen their standing at the club rise as a result. Though it'll be incumbent on them to take their chance to push the case for selection — here I have in mind those young lads who get to sit on the bench but must be itching to play. Players among those who've been irritating supporters and who've been marking time, should at least go out on loan this New Year if only to keep their own playing level maintained and/or appreciate what they've had at Spurs; some of them might agree to transfer in Summer. Look at how young Oliver Skipp has used that experience to come roaring back as a first-team player this season.

Internal promotions, plus use this transfer window for a couple of signings if they're appropriate, and added to which a couple of loans in if possible. Then the transfer window mid-year will give more opportunity for definite departures and some good inward recruitment. That way, Levy, Paratici and Conte use their collective intelligence to make identifiable progress.

I love it when people are so cocksure about something correcting something when they’re in fact completely wrong ?…

Reggi is NOT a LWB, up until under Conte he’d never played there before, quotes from the man himself below…

This result leaves Spurs ninth in the table after eleven games. Reguilon has told the Evening Standard that he knows he “has to learn quickly” under Conte:

“The gaffer is special. He loves training hard but now we don’t have a lot of time to work on the things he wants on the pitch. So we did a lot of meetings with videos this week.

“I’ve never played five at the back before. I have to learn quickly. The gaffer has told me he wants me to be solid in defence but at the same moment, I have to arrive in the box, help the strikers, score goals, give assists. Now I have more of a chance to score goals and give assists. So let’s work.

Sevilla played mainly 4-3-3 and he played LB.

He was even quoted recently saying he’s never played LWB so needs to adapt to that position so no clue where you got that he is a LWB from?!

He’s an attacking left back with potential to play as a LWB but he’s predominantly played as a LB.

Emerson similar as a RB but with potential to play RWB.

Anyway this is the Conte thread so what he was or wasn’t is irrelevant, let’s hope Conte can coach him and Emerson into top class wing backs and mabye even Sessengon too if he can mature.

Wing back is THE key position in that system so we may well have to buy 2 new ones if Reggi and Emerson aren’t up to it and even if they are our back-ups are awful so we probably need 2 Anyway.
emerson isn't an attacking fb though and possesses none of the qualities necessary to become an effective wing back, reguilon(and sessegnon) can with a bit of work.

rwb would be one of the first positions i'd be targeting, unless conte can get something out of bergwijn there.
