People seem to think that Dele will be bricking it, when his work rate and commitment isn't in doubt. Confidence and settling on a role has been. Between the 2 I fear more for NDombele who wanted to leave after 3 weeks because Poch's sessions were a bit too hard.

I think Dele *could* shine again when coached properly.
Dele actually had a bit of form with Jose after Poch was sacked
Hopefully Conte can get that player out

So who are the big winners and losers among the players with this appointment?

I can see the likes of Reguilon, Sessegnon, Emerson, and maybe even Doherty being the big winners.

Son and Kane - will both see more scoring opportunities

Reggy and Emerson - both are best situated as wingbacks

Lo Celso and Ndombele - both will likely be given the first shot at the more advanced CMs, will require lots of energy, but also chances to be involved in the attack.

Bryan - looks like he will battle Sessegnon to be the backup to Reguilon at LWB. I don't think he has the size/strength to play one of the CM spots

Romero - already becoming a key component in the back-line, will be entrenched under Conte.

Losers

Bergwijn/Lucas - Both are similarly situated. Could back-up the Forward spots, or transition to wingback.

Skippy - initially can't see him in the XI, think Conte will prefer experience. Long-term, I think he could end up in any of the CM roles.

Dele - he is going to have to impress in training with his work-rate. I could see him improving into one of the CM roles, if Conte can simplify things for him.

Winks - I just don't think he has the size/strength/tenacity to play any of the CM roles under Conte.

i can’t believe this is a real thread to be honest.

I was going to say the same. Genuinely, what the actual f*ck is going on.

Sublime, to ridiculous, to sublime to ridiculous, to sublime over and over again.

Only we could f*ck up the appointment of a proven manager in the summer, to the appointment of an obviously inadequate one, perform awfully, and still end up with the proven manager. I mean, I don't think I want to know how...but how?

I thought it was Ryan Mason as a guaranteed filler before another disaster. It's so bizarre.

I have my misgivings - the same as I did in the summer - but under the circumstances it's a great outcome.

This club is the best evidence I can imagine that I actually live in a Truman Show style reality, where someone is constantly f*cking with me for the sake of other's amusement.

So strange

I would be incredibly surprised if Conte would have agreed to come if it was case of sales funding buys or even if there was only a small budget. I also wouldn't be surprised if the club are briefing the press he is given a small budget so clubs don't up charge us.
This all sounds so familiar though. There is no war chest and I'll be very happy to be proven wrong.

Amazing news. Couldn't be happier in this very moment, so let's hope come January we'll all be even happier with results and, more importantly, performances.

If any of our squad didn't fancy the conference game with Vitesse on Thursday... I bet they fancy it big time now!!! ?

Curious if any of the players have said anything on their social media accounts? They have gone silent except for the one photo of London from Gill.

If we back him in January and get past West Ham in the Carabao Cup in December, you’ve got to believe we will have a great opportunity to get a trophy this season.

Assuming they're laying low after Saturday? Can't imagine anything they posted online being well received.

It's really surreal how quickly it has all happened. From rumours of sackings to having a popular, almost universally praised new man in place after 24 hours. This place has gone from almost constant negativity to buzzing its nuts off in 24 hours. And they say a week is a long time in football! Change that to a day.

Massive kudos to FP.
