Reading alot of the posts on SC is abit like prime minister's question time in here, point scoring bollocks that make little sense.

Boy do I miss the good old fashioned banter on the shelf with real fans.

I don’t think it’s fair to brand posters in here as not being ’real fans’ tbh…

Not at all. You said you expected something and that expectation hasn't been met and you seem frustrated by that. I was merely giving you a counter set of expectations and a realistic framework from where those expectations came from.

From my perspective, form over a third of a season where we are only in one competition and have all our players fit and raring to go is not entirely something to base an expectation of what is going to happen in the future on - as has been shown by any number of teams performances this season.
We had one of the world's best managers come in mid-season and eventually get us playing well and getting great results, and signed half a team's worth of players that everyone appeared to agree improved the overall quality of both the team and the squad. We also knew we'd be playing in Europe this season, as we have been doing for several years now. I don't know that expectations of us building on that platform were in any way less realistic than whatever it was yours were. We may well still even meet those expectations over the course of the season, but I think it's absolutely fair comment to think we're so far under-performing, even with the points on the board that we currently have.

I don't know what your argument is though. All you have said is that you expected us to show improvement and possibly challenge because other teams may have an off year. You haven't explained how or why you feel this way or why you don't view our current league position or champions league position as an improvement. We are currently above Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea in the league which I would say is us competing with them in the way you had hoped?
I've done exactly that. Repeatedly. So if you're still not getting it, I'm genuinely not sure what else I can add.

This is the crux of it isn't it though, we have yourself and others who aren't happy despite us being above Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool and in top 4 going into the World Cup AND having topped our champions league group and we have myself and others who also aren't happy with the performances (don't think anybody is tbh) but are content because despite the crap performances we are picking up points. It's a bottle half full vs bottle half empty discussion really. The real question is do you believe we can improve and get better? I believe we can and in Conte we have the right guy to do it but we will need a lot more investment in the squad and time.

If it was just you saying you think we are under-performing in terms of how we are playing on the pitch then I don't think anybody would disagree with that because clearly we can improve a lot but it's the playing down or discounting the fact that despite us playing crap we are still getting the points and qualifying through the champions league group that is the issue and why there is so much debate in here.

I've addressed this already. On the face of it our points tally looks good, but that is because we are only beating bad teams. We've taken a single point from games against all our main top 4 rivals. We can disagree on whether or not this ultimately matters, but I've made it abundantly clear that is my issue.

IMO our results don't come close to justifying our approach. We don't need to be this conservative to beat the teams 14th-20th in the table, and I can't see how we'd have been any worse off than a single point had we been more attacking against the better teams. So as well as we appear to be doing points-wise, I think the way we're playing is the biggest reason we've given away points we were capable of winning.

Again, I'm more than happy for you to disagree, but let's not do the whole misrepresenting or pretending not to understand what I'm saying thing again.

Yeah, fair enough but in my opinion, anyone saying "Conte needs to go" is talking shite, not voicing an opinion because the majority seem to have nothing else to say but that.
Or at least, they'll ignore anyone else's reasoning as to why that may not be the best course of action.
But that is the point, you're saying that people aren't listening, but neither are you. That's why they are opinions.

I would rather eat my own face than vote Conservative, but millions of people couldn't vote for any other party. I'm listening to people, I just disagree with them with every fibre of my being!

For me, I want good football more than trophies. Because on balance you aren't going to win many trophies in modern football so if you are going to fall at least do it in style and enjoy the journey.

But that's just my personal opinion.

Yesterday's performance did give me hope though certainly moreso than many of our victories this season!

This idea that you get trophies without playing good football…. It’s such a strange view.
but it sums up so many spurs fans who don’t apparently mind losing as long as we do something fancy
personally, I want to see spurs win some trophies.
smash teams, grind it out- I don’t care. Tiki taka, long ball, so be it.
I’m fed up of seeing other teams win. Arsenal, Liverpool Leicester even Everton have won the league more recently than us. We even had Martin Tyler going on about Birmingham city yesterday.
So I back conte

To be fair - for most people, its the right-most rating, and tends to be hit by accident when scrolling.

At least that's what I tell myself when I get 1 (or several).

Its not strange at all, you can definitely win trophies without playing good football. But it is very much how you would define good. I like aggressive, attacking football. Lots of pressing, winning the ball high up the pitch etc Not a huge fan of tiki taka, it's rather boring imo.

For me, it's not just that I find the low block/counter attacking style unattractive, I also think that it hands the initiative to the opposition and as we have seen this season it galvanises the opposition. Once a decent team works us out and gets on top we really struggle to turn it around. It was inevitable that we would be found out and we have been.

That being said, I fully appreciate how fine the balance is and after yesterday I definitely have more faith in Conte and how we could evolve once he gets a few players in.

All fair points and if I'm being honest the style of football has been below my expectations but I have also adjusted to suit and like I said, I'm relatively relaxed that things will start coming together as we progress through the season and as the players we bought bed in and start to show their worth, something I think we can agree that we are starting to see.

With better players the play will be better. Add that to an elite winning manager and that's a recipe for success

It's been 1 year lads. It's an insane transformation. We were in huge decline after that 0-3 United game

Yep, Fergies United had a fair few of them.

He did. But he also axed Jim Leighton. one of his most loyal and important players ahead of cup final because he needed to win. Dier and Davies are fine as back ups - like they were under Poch.
