Laura Woods on the radio reckons that this will end up with the Premier League kicking the six renegade clubs out. Do we reckon that’s likely?
Definitely possible at least but the prem would be shooting itself in the foot massively if they do and they know it. There will be lot of posturing going on for a while now from both sides.

So after more thoughts, i think this is just posturing from the top clubs trying to get more money/power out of UEFA. but if hypothetically if this does go through, does anyone know what the length of "immunity" is for the founding clubs. Lets just say Arsenal finish last every year in this league for 10 years, can they ever be booted out? or is this a full lifetime immunity until this disbands and they create the super duper 10 team league

Forever I'd imagine.

The premier League still had a relegation system. We could get relegated and be replaced by Brentford. ESL is full on elite protection and somehow we are in there too ?. If this was a normal promotion and relegation tournament then it's easier to accept.
Think the fact that every club founding this and pushing it gets immunity from any kind of relegation is the only way they could get so many of the big teams in to face the backlash to get this off the ground. Guaranteed financial benefit for the long term, for any short term problems that they'll have from this announcement.

Six English clubs wouldn't need to qualify for European competition. How many outside the 6 would be able to qualify do you think? How seriously would those 6 clubs take the domestic league while also competing in a season long European league?

Get a grip
Get a grip,? Eh? ?

I was correcting your mistake, the intention isn’t to leave the PL. It’s not that hard to understand.

If the 'big 6' actually left, although it'd make a lot less money, the Premier League would be a lot more competitive in terms of who wins it each year.

But with a lot less money getting pumped into the league, the clubs literally won't be able to afford to keep their best players. They'll all be off to the Super League.

I'm going to wait and see how this pans out before losing my shit over it. There are so many permutations on how this ends up.

I don't like it, but it was inevitable. Rather be in it than not.

I'm not for this move....but can see a couple of short term advantages for us . 1. A cash injection of 90 millish given the stadium to pay for and no fans is extremely welcome . 2. We won't make the CL next season anyway..suddenly that isn't a problem , we're in the big European competition however atrociously we play .

So for us more than most others involved, there are short term upsides . How the FA Prem bodies will react we'll see , but banning ESL players from International and domestic competitions would surely put the kibosh on it all .

What about the mugs who are handing over their hard earned to Sky every month so they can watch PL football ? Soon it seems it will be a league full of Burnley’s etc and the Euro Super League will cream off any decent players.

Just reeks of people being afraid of change.
We are likely about to get thrown out of our domestic league without the supporters of the club even getting consulted. Afraid of change my arse, this is a fucking outrage.

The basis for the Prem getting that money in the first place though is because of the fans that the big clubs attract. The big money comes from TV deals and when the big clubs go, most likely so does the TV deals.

PL is a massive draw and the main reason for that is because of the big 6 so it's doubtful. No one wants to pay to watch Burnley vs Brighton as it's main attraction.

I think the best thing the PL can do now is reduce the prize money for the big 6 and spread it down the league more evenly at least with that you're increasing the competition a little.

Same here. I'll be off to Norwich if this goes ahead.
Not singing that fkin shit song though lol.
Good luck with that - getting tickets at Carrow Rd is as difficult as the old Lane was! I'm thinking Norwich United but, annoyingly, they play out at Blofield so it's a bit of a trek from the city.

Kick top 6 out and teams lose most of TV money, don't and we have 100m more than them thanks to super league and Everton, Leicester and others will never catch up. Maybe England as a country would pay the difference in TV money? Plenty of clubs could get screwed without it and none of them will want to build new stadiums and training grounds now. Maybe FA comes with some compromise where Super league clubs get points deducted and those clubs miss out on some TV money, things will get complicated for sure.

This screws European football for all but the 20 clubs in this league, if it goes ahead. Which then also makes any European comps domestic teams qualify instantly spawny if the 6 clubs stay in the PL. Striving for 7th place to qualify for the equivalent of the Intertoto with a ribbon tied around what will continue on under whatever guise (CL/EL etc) it is hardly the stuff of glory or prestige.

If the domestic leagues do kick the clubs out of the domestic leagues, their revenues tank. Now, maybe that isn't such a bad thing for what remains. Diminished quality but perhaps more parity and competition as a result.

I hope this is a just a ridiculously blunt negotiating tactic/powerplay and the current arrangements are just tweaked. Doesn't feel like it though.

Bloody hell. So many thoughts and questions about this but in no coherent argument.

1. What the hell happens to the champions league from a UK perspective? As it stands, Leicester, West Ham, Everton and Leeds would be our representatives. Fucks up the Champions League.

2. Weakens the Champions League significantly so effectively Bayern and PSG will compete (currently) as favourites every season. Fucks up the Champions League.

3. The money will obviously be the biggest factor and will no doubt be used to reduce the debt on the stadium but it will still be the same in my mind i.e. we will still be a rank outsider and we will just hold up the bottom of the table. As a fan, I don't actually fancy the prospect currently of seeing Sissoko competing against Barcelona or Madrid on a weekly basis.

I just can't be fucked to write anymore as just writing it and thinking it through makes me think this is a shitty idea. We could get removed from competing in the UK competitions and reading other collateral there is clamour for players to get removed from competing for their countries.

I would love to know if the players were advised before the announcement.
