This is just a complex deal - going from loan where old team paid part of wages to permanent transfer with below market transfer fee so that new club can pay a lump sum fee to the player in order to make up for lost wages, a large portion of which may be paid directly to a charitable organization of the player's choosing. Why is anyone surprised it's taking a while to work it all out, especially considering the window isn't about to close? People are ASSuming it's a priority to wrap it up when the terms may actually all be agreed and documents are just being finalized while other, less certain deals are taking priority.

I remember him from COYS! when I was a member several years ago, always seemed decent, but like all ITK, take it with a pinch of salt (y)
I remember him from Glory-glory many moons ago. At that time he had no ITK as far as I can remember.

I wouldn't pay Andy Carroll £17k a week. Horrible ****. Incredibly average.

I can also confirm, as he lives near me in Liverpool, that he picks his nose at traffic lights and has a girlfriend who looks about 17. Saw them in Sainsbury's, she's not all that but neither is he. Picky nosey Pikey.

TOTTENHAM target Emmanuel Adebayor is threatening to see out the remainder of his contract at Manchester City.

The striker, 28, is unhappy at being asked to take a £3million-a-year pay cut to join Spurs.
A close pal confirmed: “Manu is digging his heels in and I don’t think this is going to be sorted any time soon.
“He’s the sort of guy who will see out his contract rather than cave in.”
The two clubs agreed a £6m deal last week but Adebayor, who last played for City in December 2010, is stalling on the move because of the huge gulf in wages.
City paid Arsenal £25m for Adebayor in 2009 and he still has two years left on his £175,000-a-week contract at the Etihad.
Spurs’ offer of a four-year deal comes nowhere near so Adebayor, who scored 18 goals on loan at White Hart lane last season, is holding out for a sizeable increase from the Londoners or a big pay-off from City.

Citeh are going to have to take the hit. The reason this is an issue is entirely their doing. Pay him £18.2m in wages for the next 2 yrs or take a few million from us and offset £75K a week. If the £6m figure they'd get from us as a fee is true they'd only have to spend £1.8m on Ade net over the next 2 yrs. £16.5m is a significant chunk, even to citeh I'd think.

Unless Lokomotiv are prepared to pay him 175K they're just going to have to face the consequences of their own actions I'm afraid.

Is that Sun story just rehashed garbage? Thought he only had 1 year left on his contract?

Before I start I want to clarify that this is not an adebayor thread,

I will however make a comparison to the type of deal we may be prepared to offer the guy. Firstly good player, probably not world class but nevertheless the kind of player to suit our need/level last season,

Now, I would say for a 28yr old, we are likely to offer a 4yr deal on something around £100'000 a week, so the club will likely offer 5.2million a year for 4 years, just short of 21million, plus a 5-6million transfer fee plus an alleged signing on fee? Which would take it to around 30-35million all in (give or take). Now I know that this is based on mostly educated guesswork, but this would be significant investment, are we as spurs fans happy with the use of this amount of money for adebayor? Or are we paying a premium for a player who arguably has had his peak years? I think the pay off is if you but proven premiership then it's at a price, if your scouting system leads you elsewhere then there are better ways of spending that amount. I like adebayor, he plays with a smile and is effective, however does he take us to the next level, considering for the past few windows we've been screaming out for a 'top class' centre forward,

It seems that this deal is done, let's hope we are not held to ransom over the next 2-3 through the door

I'm afraid it is an Adebayor thread or at best will soon turn into one. (and one is enough) So I'll merge them.

Obviously The Sun is a correct informant, so it must be true then :)

Well if a 'Close pal' confirmed it, we are obviously fucked then, I don't need to hear anything more water tight than that.

If these rumours are true that he's not going to sign because of the wages offered, then is he worth it?

Im getting worried about our striker situation!
Why?, the window closes 1st of September, by my reckoning that's about 6 weeks away. Transfer windows seem to bring about a massive bout of impatience, normal well adjusted individuals seem to lose all sense of reasoning if we haven't managed to sort all our transfers out in the first couple of weeks. I know Danny likes to leave everything, until he is happy, but the window has only been open 3 weeks By our standards, it's been a busy 3 weeks. You need to calm down, and chill. Everything will be fine.
