Ok wild theory of the day.

Could the hold up be that we are now expecting a 100m injection from Kane and we can afford someone of a higher caliber?

Perhaps we go in for Gvardiol, also if I was Gvardiol I'd go to Spurs as I'd be guaranteed to start every game.

Wildly optimistic I know.

We aren't getting anyone with a higher caliber defensively than Tapsoba regardless of the Kane windfall.

As is likely Kane departs, simply put, Tapsoba and van de Ven must happen this summer.

Tbf Kane probably has little effect on our other business as the money required for a Kolo Muani will closely match it. Imo there will be no little team improving financial injection.

More likely we are waiting on Barca allowing us to pull their pants down on Lenglet fee before pulling trigger on Tapsoba. If we can drive that Lenglet fee down to near zero, we'll pull the trigger on Tapsoba. If not, we'll buy VdV.

Either way, Lenglet will come in as cheaper cover.

Which is why i've advocated not spending all the Kane money on Muani at an inflated premium when we need multiple positions to be reinforced.

We are not in a position of looking at the final pieces for a title shot here, this is rebuild territory and Muani at £80m odd doesn't make sense to me with limited funds available under ENIC.
