I only have Vickery's word on it, but don't see why he would make it up. Even of he didn't, the point stands, I think he would be longer term signing that some on here want - ie instant South American Messi-lite tekkers.

I agree with your long term comment. I think at least for the first season he would be rotating with Lennon a lot.

For starters, even though they are both lightning quick, they are quite different in style with Bernard being a lot more technical on the ball.

Not to mention the fact that Lennon has been such a key member of our team for the last 5 years and it would be bad for morale and the team to just ditch him.

We'll be playing shit loads of games with the Europa league as well and it is very much a squad game nowadays. It would be nice to give Bale the odd rest too, a big problem for us last season was fatigue to our key players which caused quite a few injuries.

Good. So now journalists will be able to add another stron competition. I'm thinking Inter Milan, Chelsea or PSG.

@BrazilStats: BREAKING - #BVB have surrendered in signing #THFC target #Bernard and have already set their sights on #Internacional's Fred. [Lancenet]

That's a pretty natural transition in terms of the targets involved.

But, you've got to worry that if Levy knows the other contender drops out, and we offered 4m more than them, he may try to fuck around with the fee again.

I wonder what's more likely, Tottenham signing Bernard or Adam Suter finally convincing Eatson into bed.

I'm not familiar with their goalkeeping situation.

If they could afford Gomes' wages, it'd be a good way to balance out some of the costs.

Actually that's a great idea! If they need him of course.

I'm sure they could renegotiate Huerelho's wages with him. By this point I reckon he'd actually pay to play there.

Two birds one stone? The man from Levymonte says "Yes!"

And can I just add... I've just re-watched the second of the two clips for about the third time now and it's simply boner inducing.

It's not just a puffy drawn out self glorification piece probably paid for by the player containing absolutely the best things they've ever done with a football, lasting about 4 minutes, 2 of which are just him jogging and posing (and I imagine this is a growth industry). It's a 7 minute, relentless onslaught of outstanding and at times incredible football. One after another.

Wait, how old is he?

This kid demonstrates almost everything in terms of attacking play. Speed (serious speed), skill, precision, technique, vision, two feet, tricks and most importantly, finishing ability with practically every legal part of the anatomy, least of which, his head. How many times does a cross-shot flash in at that height which tall players find hard to defend? I can see Bale fizzing them in to this guy stealing in at the front or back posts. And vice versa.

He just seems to have that something extra in his stride. A bit like GB. A way of running, of adjusting the physique according to the flight of the ball in order to apply the perfect technique. Something silky in his step, if you will.

To be honest, his size means little to his importance as a player and most likely adds more to his attacking prowess than it detracts from his defensive duties. Azza-blud, more than adequately demonstrates that even a small guy can defend well, in fact, very well. And if needs really must, we stick him on the line at corners and set-pieces.

Sure, it might take a half season for him to settle in the PL or even a bit more, but as the old adage goes, if you're good enough, you're good enough!

wait... or was old it enough.. or big?!?

Ah, the ravages of time....

And weed.

I too have been availing myself of said video again.

What strikes me is his ability to find the top corner, and also his ability to weight the ball over any length of pass, cross or push into space.

He could be a bit special this one. :)

I also availed my self of a video of one of his teammates, a player called Ronaldinho.
He seemed to have a bit about him too.

yeah he was okay.....

Bernard, while he looks a very neat and tidy player, he is young and is going to take time to adapt. We really need a sharp, clever right footed player to play as LWF next season instantly with a view to phasing in a player like Bernard.Would we go for Villa possibly as an option to play through the middle or on the left? (Though my Spanish friend thinks we would be insane to play him anywhere other than through the middle) Ade tends to drift wide left a lot too. I reckon he could give an option, as could Sig.

I personally think Benrard looks better then Oscar did before he moved and he didn't have any problems settling in ( and he didnt have the benifet of a manger who spoke his native language or consistant backroom staff). I don't see why Berny couldn't start when/if brought in, we would have Sig and Lennon/Bale to rotate if it doesn't gel straight away but I personally think he wouldn't have any problems... As long as he has a full pre season. Rember AVB will prob turn to a 433 so the whole team will need to readjust to a new system which would be the perfect time to introduce new players.

BREAKING - Bernard will not be sold for less than €25M, Atlético-MG's club president Kalil has just warned all bidders. #THFC #BVB

Sounds like they accept that he will leave and are now trying to get the best price.

Is that not about €7mil more than the very same guy tweeted Atletico would accept just a few days ago & we were just a couple of mil short?

They love to constantly change their stories! :D

Yeah don't they just lol. I'm off out for an hour or so now, I've got no doubt whatsoever that I'll log back on & discover that club President Kalil will not be willing to let Bernard leave for less than €35mil
