Bare in mind this is when we were on top and playing well. :ROFLMAO:

And some people still sit here and say they think he does well. What are you actually seeing?

I'm seeing a player in transition from a no. 10 to a CM. He didn't play much last year so he is about where you'd expect him to be.

Dier was getting stick last year with plenty of (the ususal) posters saying they wanted rid, waste of space, stealing a living...

It takes time and in Allis case I think it'll be worth it. He's got the raw materials to make it work; a great engine, size, a good touch, decent vision and can score a few. He needs to learn to release the ball quicker but that is already starting to happen, he needs to get his timings right to make good runs into the box as well as get stuck in more but again, there are signs for improvement.

I'm going to support him in this, show a little patience and belief. That's what supporters do isn't it?

The sad fact is that Sissoko offered more! At least he had some powerful runs and could put himself about a bit. Dele just runs around a lot slows things up and gives the ball away. He should not be near the 1st team on the form of the last 3 years
Good grief.

Stop.

Dele is bang average now - but he did more in his first season for us than Sissoko did in his whole Spurs career.

He had a decent first half the left side was an outlet for us Kante stopped him in the second half he tries to make things happen and that's a positive the mistake for the goal was poor though I haven't seen it on the box again there are bigger problems in the side than Dele

I actually think Dier and Dele have been mismanaged by the club.

Dier only started playing CB regularly at about 25, he was used as a utility player early on and his best season came under Poch playing a hybrid of DM out of possession and third CB in possession.

Early on Dele played amazing in that half 10 / half 9 role. Now at 25 he is playing as a box to box CM.

Those early roles haven't existed under Jose or Nuno, or even at the end of Poch's tenure.

Not saying they can't be criticised but I do wonder how much fundemental training they have received for the positions they are now playing in.

Dele Alli admiting his performance yesterday was not his best is a step in a right direction.

Dele Alli admiting his performance yesterday was not his best is a step in a right direction.

The thing is he did the same interview last season and the season before. He never plays well, by his own admission. He hasn't for ages. Why are we waiting so long for the penny to drop that he isn't and will never be worth it.

It's no wonder we are such a poor side when we consistently play poor players. It isn't rocket science, but our manager doesn't seem to get it.

Whilst he isn't the only problem, I genuinely don't understand why Nuno won't drop Alli and instead play PEH, Skipp with Ndombele or GLC in front.

Instead it seems to be Alli and PEH with one other, which is just wrong.

Imo he's been one of the few positives so far this season. Admitting that you did not play your best is fine with me.

I just don't agree. What quality have you seen from him this season?

It seems Alli has been a positive this season to some because he got fit over the summer, and now runs around a lot.

I thought he did alright in the first half yesterday. It seems like he was told to stay out on the left when we had the ball, which I thought seemed a bit limiting for him, as it would have been useful to have him interchanging with N'Dombele and roaming around a bit more trying to find space perhaps. I think N'Dombele might have been too gassed to do that after a while.

I think the biggest issue with him is he can give the ball away too cheaply, and maybe he signposts his passes a bit too much, but there were signs that he is improving with that, and starting to try to recycle the ball a bit more. It's probably going to take a while for him to transition to a cm but there are some signs of progress. He seems to be doing OK with covering defensively also.

We sorely lack a Modric type to help knit it all together, but those sorts of players are so rare. Still, it seems bizarre to have prioritised Traore in the transfer window over a ball playing midfielder if the intention was to play with three in the middle.

I don't deny that for 2 seasons he was great. What I'm saying is that for the last 2 seasons he's offered nothing. It's time to end this hope that he will rediscover his previous form.

So you feel he should still be starting!! I really can't see how anyone could even begin to think that. Sissako was shocking for us last season but whats even more shocking is that he did more than Dele did when they both played.
