I must admit I have not watched All or Nothing yet, but I have heard all the stuff about him not training well. Maybe true, and maybe he got complacent. Undoubtedly, this is a make or break moment for him at Spurs.

But I think it's at least worth noting that Dele has overcome adversity in his life that I personally can only imagine. He is a fighter. What will be remains to be seen, but I for one hope he knuckles down, rises to the challenge, and gets back to his best.

Wonder if Daniel Levy had one of his man-to-man talks with Dele? Perhaps it was the story about that one time when he fell off his bike. But, instead of refusing to get back on that bike, he sold it for more than its market value and bought a scooter instead. Motivational.

Which player do you think would be dropped if Dele gets the merits to return to starting 11?

I know that currently we do not have a starting 11 settled and that we do rotations but with a starting 11 I mean the team that Mourinho would play with in a hypothetical Europa League final.

I think the players that Mou will have the most confidence in are:

Lloris

Doherty Dier Toby Reguilon

Winks PEH Lo Celso

Bale Kane Son

Mourinho: "Good for Dele to create a proper penalty and score."

Love the sass!

Also glad he's mentioned him specifically, really hope Dele can try and fight his way back into the team.

I was thinking this was the only explanation as the ball rolled between that innocent defender's legs

Wouldn’t mind seeing him inside left if Sergio is going to be overlapping.

Absolutely will be his best spot, it was when he was at his peak. Problem for Dele is that Son is better at it but a fantastic problem to have for Jose.

If we want to be challenging for titles we need immense depth, think of some of the players City have had on their bench when they've won the league. Even if Dele doesn't fit in to our starting XI we know he can make something out of nothing like he did tonight, and I know he's been off for a couple of seasons now but we need to keep him if we are serious about challenging imo

Great attacking vision and talent tonight, but his defensive effort was a bit lacking, to my eye. There were a number of times one of their midfielders skipped past Dele quite easily.

i dont think its defensive effort, more hes just pants at tacking and jockeying/turning.... Jose didnt look that happy which really worries me

Did well tonight tbf. Still don't think he would get into our strongest 11 though.

Yeah I just don’t see where he fits unless it is in the position he played in tonight as the furthest forward of a midfield three. I’ve no qualms with him playing there, but at the moment Gio is the man in possession of that place.

Good to see him get a run and no doubt about the ability he has in that last third. Same problem remains though, struggling to see him get into Mourinho's first choice 11, especially if he goes to a 433. Can't see past Kane, Bale, Son as the 3 forwards. He is really going to have to work on modifying his game if he is to get a place in midfield. If not, struggle to see him get into a midfield 3 ahead of Hojbjerg, Lo Celso, Ndombele and Winks. Personally, just not sure he is now that type of player.

In a 4231, you'd think he has a better chance but I just don't think Mourinho will turn to that as can imagine him wanting an extra man in midfield to give us more control there.

If we get Skriniar it's as good as any in the league bar perhaps Liverpool who probably beat us on first XI quality.
Not sure I agree they do tbh, but yeah add Skrinair and we are going to go from strength to strength

Competition for places is what we’ve been needing for ages. Lo Celso starting with Dele as current back up/competition is incredibly strong.
Did well tonight, he’s always had that moment of genius but he played a lot of passes first time which is good sign. Needs to work hard on his stamina though but think we should see how this plays out until at least January.
