Hey @dontcallme,

You have been on this forum since 2005 and you have posted almost 16.000 messages.

You do think my comment from 2017 about Dele, "There is nothing special about him", is among the worst you ever seen on this forum apparently. It's so outrageous that you need to have it in your signature so you can remember my words forever.

Can you please enlighten me what's so special about him?

If you need it explained to you is there actually any point?

It is still a ridiculous comment for someone about a young player who in his first two seasons in the Prem hit double figures each season and got into the England team.

He has now hit a downward piece of form, which appears to make you happy, but thinking he has nothing special is still a nonsensical comment.

I just want Poch to play a better player so Tottenham become a better team.

Is something nonsensical just because someone sees something before you do? How many more seasons like the last few does he need before those first 2 are considered outliers? If this season finishes as it has begun then that would make 3 not-so-special seasons compared with 2 double digit seasons. On balance @OPModric would have a point as the evidence would favor his early perspective, no?

Now I think @OPModric was hasty because I think Dele is refocused and will be back banging them in this year. And I expect with more control of the MF with Ndombele and GLC this will be made easier. But nonsensical is quite harsh and dismissive considering time has thus far justified his perspective.

And that bold part is another weak charge. Play the ball, not the man. Doing otherwise shows your reason to be limp.

At his peak of we sold him we could’ve got £100m for him. If we were to sell him now we’d be lucky to get £30m and that is only due to him still being young, English and the transfer fees in this market being stupidly high.

That’s just wrong, but I think you know that.

Not really, he may still have some in the bank due to past performances but if he continues like this for much longer I can’t see many teams splashing out a very high fee for him.

I think he'll come good for us, the talent is still there, he now needs to get a bit of needle back. Who can he get in a scrap with at Everton?

Fitness have obviously had its impact, but I don't think we should look away from Son at Spurs and Sterling for England forcing him into playing a position that isn't ideal for Dele. Nothing special as a central midfielder.

He needs to play behind a single front man to give him space to move into. And yes he needs a bit of that spite back

Alex Iwobi was sold for 34mil to Everton this past summer. Same age, Alli is an England International, Iwobi Nigerian. Alli has scored 46 goals and assisted 38, to Iwobi's 15g/19a.

Insane to think that we'd get anything less than, say 60m, for him even given his recent form.

Watched a highlight clip on Facebook earlier today, the Real Madrid game. He was the man then. He needs a goal or 2 and some confidence back, the whole team does.

Although I'm concerned his current form isn't permanent, we, all know what he can do which is why I expect him to get back to the player he was a few years ago.

I was sat behind the bench on Sunday and a couple of times Poch got up to pass on instructions to Dele, I noticed that Dele kind of gesticulated his hands in a manner that looked like a bit of attitude, almost as if to say 'I don't know what you want'...

Not suggesting there is a problem and was most likely frustration, but a couple of us sat near each other noticed it.

Its difficult to know what Poch wants....but I imagine Poch emphasizes the defensive side of their game maybe more than the attacking side and they kills the spirit of a creative player. If that is true its the reason why we don't flow enough. Poch likes uber players but players instincts are very important and it may have curbed Deles ideas as he really does less exciting things nowadays and a pretty good job marshalling the lanes. It doesn't make me happy and it hasn't resulted in great scores. Same probably with Eriksen and maybe he will try that with NDombele and that will put the stamp on the end of POch for me.
The problem is its difficult to assess if Poch is really doing that

In a way he reminds me of Lennon - was a bit of a prodigy for his age when he was just hitting 20, then hit a bit of a plateau around 24 and didn't seem to improve for a few years. At one point we were ready to write him off and suddenly he finds a new level to his game just as we start on our European adventures.

Rose was similar and, if I really thought about it, I expect there's dozens of players who have over achieved for their age group as a teenager/early twenties, only to level out as they get a few years down the line and their peers start to catch up.

The big concern now is the fluid nature of players contracts - will Alli stick around long enough to ride out this flat spot if it lasts longer than expected or will another club come in and swipe him away with promises of a new start? It wasn't long ago that a player with three years on their contract would expect to stay for three years, so Lennon and Rose both stuck around long enough to push through it, but now contracts mean very little in that department.
