Best wishes to him and family. What difficult times he's had the last couple of years.

Unbelieveable test of faith really...I know Defoe is a christian (prob not a practising one) and what's happening to him and his family will test their belief to the core. He needs to grieve, personally when his father died he should have withdrawn for the England squad. It was obvious he wasn't going to get games at the Euros and just take in the fact that a memeber of the families gone....sad though.

Football = not at all important in the grand scheme of things. Terrible news.

Sure the club and fans will really get behind him as he'll need that now.

People have short memories, so I hope he gets cut some slack next time he happens to miss a goal opportunity. Brother, father and cousin all died in a short space of time, coming to terms with one death is hard enough.

That poor Defoe family, it never seems to end. How did she die does anyone know? It was an accident right?

Awful few years for him and his family, really horrendous, all this regular grief must not give them much time to get over anything, can imagine it brings back the pain of the past.

You've got to feel so sorry for his family after all the sad losses over the last few years.

Really feel for Jermain. In the professional footballing world, where life looks so rosy to us... a multi millionaire, a gifted footballer that has done things many can only dream to have done... like any of us...your world can quite easily come crashing down all around you, when those waves of life hit you like that.

Those waves of life don't discriminate between black, white, or asian. They don't care if you're working class, upper class, professional footballer, live in a cardboard box, or a mansion in Southern California. They are not prejudice in anyway about who, or what you are. Sometimes those waves of life just happen, and sometimes they hit hard....and in Jermain's case, this year....very hard.

It doesn't matter who you are, or what you've achieved in life... we're all just humans at the mercy of life. We all walk together on the same long highway, journey of life. What's at the end of that journey???......I have no idea...and zero beliefs.....but I think if we help others on that same journey....sometimes remember to help another human being up when he's struggling...cos there's only one result we all want at the end of that journey we're all walking...which is happiness for our families, close friends, and and lastly ourselves....Life's way too short.

My thoughts and respect go to Jermain and his family at this time. So very sad. Poor bloke.

Awful news for the little fella. That's 5 family members he's lost in four years, all before their time. Honestly, if it weren't for bad luck he'd have no luck at all. Poor lad, my thoughts are with him & his family...RIP Hannah.
