Fair point with Santini but having only been in charge for something like 13 games I don't think he had any real affect on the team.

But I'd argue Ramos does demonstrate my point. We were in the relegation zone under Jol with the crowd booing their disapproval.
Despite his two 5th place finishes Levy replaced him with Ramos and he took us back up the table and to a Carling cup victory.

Ramos couldn't improve us the next season so he was sacked and replaced with Redknapp.

In my opinion even Hoddle improved us, we started playing football again and he got us 9/10th and a Worthington cup final but as soon as the team went backwards he was out the door.

There is a strong argument in football that a manager should be allowed a poor season and not be sacked but Levy doesn't appear to agree with that and as his reign has seen us rise from mid table mediocrity to the CL he has, so far, been correct.

I agree, never really understand the constant vilification of Ramos, his first season was a great success culminating in a trophy. In my opinion, his second season was derailed by Berbatov and apparently Bentley put the knife in as well and we know what a muppet he is.

But then, the decision to replace Jol was taken well before the season started, and he was being undermined by that dick Comolli, Kemsley and their allies. He wasn't bought the players he needed that summer, and with the politicking behind the scenes it was scarcely surprising that he and the players were badly unsettled. Ramos won a few games against basket cases and teams we almost invariably beat (City and Pompey), but from New Year to the end of the season we averaged barely a point a game. The CC win was great, of course, but glossed over the shitness of our league form.

You could argue, and I certainly would argue, that on the football front Levy's been very lucky to have had Jol and Harry get him out of the shit. That is not to say he hasn't done a great deal for Spurs; I can't warm to the guy as a person, and have serious problems with some of the stuff he's done and come out with, but there's no-one else I'd want in charge.

Apart from the Cup, Ramos tenure was a total shambles. You do realise we only won something like 4 games between February and October under Ramos, yes? It was a total clusterfuck. And SS57 is right - if you think that Ramos wasn't that bad, you should have been watching the football or, at very least, the results.

Yeah, totally aware that the wheels fell off after we won the cup. My point is that, we won a trophy so he must get respect for that.
