Leeds trying for a James replacement by the looks of it

Didn't Ornstein say they had no cash for permanent deals the other day? Maybe it's worse than we think and we're throwing big money at them for James.

I am struggling to see "5 top players" in that list...

I'll give you Sterling. Mount historically has been better than he is right now, so that's 2.

The other 3 names have been long-term disappointments for Chelsea.
Pulisic is the only one that hasn’t proven himself at the highest level if you’re really being objective here

Even City for all their riches don't have brilliant depth.

Haaland, Foden, Mahrez and Grealish are all top players. Alvarez is good but also young and new to the PL, Silva plays mainly in midfield and whilst he can certainly play further forward if he does, City would only have KdB and Gundogan for their two more advanced CM positions so no depth there.

Think people need to trust Conte and Paratici, they know what they are doing. They have improved our squad this summer and if they think this is the best move for now, I back them completely.

Yeah we are massively short. Would you all really feel confident playing a front 3 of Moura Richie James?

Whereas other teams can fully rotate and still look strong. Our bench mark is competing with City and Liverpool, and that front 3 above is no where near the quality of their 2nd string.

I get this is a stop back and we will more than likely sign a quality option to replace Moura next summer, but we still really need another quality option. I think 5 is minimum when you play a front 3.

We’re never gonna solve all our problems in one window though. Only in the last season or two have Liverpool had quality depth. Prior to that Minamino, Shaquiri were warming their bench.

Remove his pace and he’s worse than Theo Walcott. But somehow they’d like us to believe a manager like conte who’s dealt with players from all over the world, winning titles on route, has demanded the signing of Dan James. ???

It fucking says it in the article! I even quoted it for you.

It's a throwaway line in the article mate. If Leeds are putting together a deal for this Wolves guy, I'd say it's more that they are looking to add to their numbers in case James leaves, than it is because Rodrigo got a knock and will be back in a week or two.

Why such a serious reaction to it anyway? I just thought it was interesting as it may mean they expect outs.

To be honest that quote still doesnt state that its for Rodrigo, it just says they're more so under pressure now because of him being out. They'd like to have a backup in that position going forward I'm sure, and with the real potential of James leaving, they're under pressure because now they're short in the area for the next few games. They wouldn't necessarily be under pressure if James was to stay because he'd come in for him whilst hes out for a few games.

He's a speed merchant, thats all he is and ever will be. No end product, vision, passing range. He is Championship standard and for us to be only linked to just this guy on Deadline Day is a bloody insult to all of us.

Really hope this is one of the infamous spinning plates, as I fail to see what James has to offer, doesn't fit the AC build of player either, as he is relatively physically weak for the prem league, quick, but certainly not strong, in essence a poor man's Neto.

Exactly, at what point do we start questioning who's feeding the media or the ITKs about Conte's preferences? Would people be happy/believe it if Conte demanded Sissoko back to replace Bentancur?

Havertz has been bad for over a year now - after giving him time to adjust to the league.

Ziyech has been out of favor for as long, and is likely to leave Chelsea by Thursday - he wants to go back to Ajax...

Pulisic has moments but no consistency - and isn't going to find that on the bench.

Last year goals: Havertz 8, Pulisic 6, Ziyech 4

Most of my opinion of him is based on two things. 1. He flopped at Man Utd. 2. A very good friend who supports Leeds classes him as a distinctly average player - and he watches him every week.

He doesn’t even appear to be that fast anymore. Look at clips from 3/4 years ago to this season, he’s not the same player speed wise.

I’m not fretting too much as for the life of me I can’t see us going for him. I’ll not buy for a second this is a Conte choice. Granted it looks like Conte wants a dribbler with pace, but even then he’s not overly technical while dribbling. I know many have had a go at the Traore links, but if Conte does indeed want an elite counter attacking winger, that couples pace, technical dribbling and strength with ball security when having to hold it up, then it’s clear Traore should be the option to go for.

Let’s just see how the last 33 hours odd pan out. Sure there going to be more twists and turns before the deadline hits.

I think people forget that every top side that wins stuff always has a few journey men that can do a job and make up the numbers when necessary in there as well. Personally I'd rather we didn't end up with James and hope it would only be a loan if we did, but I'm not going to lose my shit if AC thinks he can do a job.
As long as it is AC that thinks he can do a job I'm fine with it. Pace does cause problems and he's young enough to improve.

Hope next year we're operating a better scouting network to find better players

i can only think that the links to james are being thrown out there to disgruntle the fan base on purpose, so much so that when we get adama we collectively rejoice when he comes instead of james.

Otherwise zero logic in getting rid of gil and taking james!
