Confirmation from THFC that the story in the Mirror is pure speculation. ENIC are not looking to sell at this time.
I'll be honest, the last people I'd listen to about what goes on with the club are in fact THFC and it's leaders. No offence to them, I'm not writing in malice at all. They just don't have any interest in leaking any actual true versions of most dealings. We (most of us) knew that the right sum of money would seal the Bale-deal hands down. How many times did they say that Bale would stay?

Agreed but the timing of this is very fishy. Loads of news sources are making a big deal out of the Archway Steel thing and this just seems like a "Journalist" latching onto that and trying to write a piece based on the idea that our owner might sell the club for £1b if it was offered. Most owners would sell for that much so it might be true but it doesn't mean ENIC are seriously looking for buyers.

don't care if you do or not, I'll PM my post to A&C and Rob so they are aware

PS - I am 100% confident the stadium will not be completed while ENIC still own the club
You're not an oil rich gazillionaire currently negotiating to buy the club from ENIC are you? If so you can afford more than a measly grand as a bet!:)

So actually having a billionaire owner wouldn't be that different to how things are now? Yes I know Joe Lewis is a billionaire but compared to Abramovich and how he invests it isn't the same.

Doesn't it kind of produce a stalemate? The clubs that spent heavily before FFP to get big name players to achieve constant champion league spots will stay there as they have the CL money, the TV revenue that brings, extra match day tickets and a bigger exposure worldwide to keep them there whilst the smaller clubs will be unable to keep/buy the elite players to make them competitive?

It really depends on what they put the money into.
Say we did get oil money, they could put £400 million into the stadium and spend the money we have saved for it on players.

We are debt free and have shown a profit on player trading over the last few years, we'd have squillions to spend.

I can see the draw for an investor, can't say I'd be comfortable with it though.

Spurs state quite categorically to us the club is NOT for sale. Club seems particularly angry by media reports suggesting otherwise. #COYS

Not sure I'd want to be on a certain tabloid's sports desk. Would suspect some serious grovelling may be in order... #COYS

well from what I understand Spurs are not taking this lightly.

I'm quite happy to pay £1 a week for a billion weeks to secure the club. I'm pretty sure we currently buy players with similar payment schemes. I may even throw in an extra pound or two to ensure it gets done quickly.

Gotta love this type of journalism where you can say that you 'understand' something is happening and not support it with any quotes.

It's like me saying Aliyid understands that the Mirror journalist responsible for writing this groundbreaking exclusive will soon be given a personal tour of Daniel Levy's sex dungeon office

Contrary to recent press speculation, neither the Club, nor its majority shareholder, are in any takeover discussions and the focus of the club is fully on delivering the new stadium project.

Maybe Archway should make a speculative counter-bid for the club.
Lewis is practically inviting them to bid.
