I wonder if we might end up going for someone like Hackney instead. Supposedly we are interested but early reports suggested he wouldn’t be available until summer however I just saw on the bbc that Boro might be willing to sell him this window if a big offer came in. You’d think comparatively speaking a big offer for Boro would still be a good bit bellow whatever Chelsea would want for Gallagher. He looks a fantastic talent who can play a few different position in CM. Also Adam Wharton is another player we have been linked to a lot. In general I do wonder if a younger HG or an 18 year old talent from abroad like Vermeeren might be a better move.

I worked with Kae Kurd a couple years ago, before he got his big break. UTD fan though.

Pleased we are looking for a midfielder as we need a 4th option who isn't PEH, Skipp or GLC.

I very much doubt Gallagher gets done in this window though so will be interesting to see if Ange puts his foot down and demands someone else in January.
I do agree but to be a pedant, we have Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, and Bentancur so technically is a 5th option :D

IMO over this window and the next window, we need a top 6 and a top 8 to give us a set of six really good midfield three options.

From his playing time so far it looks like Ange sees Benta as a 6, so coupled with Biss, I'm not sure we need another

At some point they will surely play together, when they’re both in good form it would be madness to not have them both on the pitch. Bentancur can deffo play as an 8.

I agree that he can, it's just whether Ange sees him there. When you've got Skipp on the pitch as an 8 instead of swapping them round, it makes you wonder

I think it is one more 6/8 to rotate with Sarr, Biss and Bents who are all able to play both roles. Maddison is the 10 and he can rotate with Kulu. Personally i'd like us to take a punt on a talent like Ezequiel Fernández from under Liverpools noses and cheap. He'd be the 6 but is good on the ball, that said I appreciate the need for a HG player to replace PEH and definately if they replace Skipp. Personally Gallagher is too expensive and i dont think his quality takes us to the next level.

There are a lot of news reports about this one, I doubt it's coming from us or Gallagher, I think Chelsea are desperate to sell.

I think we are interested, this could be one to watch and I have a suspicion that Chlesea have to sell before they buy, and FFP wise Gallagher is their number one option to ship out.

I reckon we agree a 30m (rising to 40) deal by the end of the month. Whether Gallagher would actually agree to move or even want to come to Spurs is another matter.

Although I'm not a massive fan of Gallagher it'd be worth it for the meltdown of the Chelsea fans.

It seems we want him but as you say the possibility of this deal is driven by Chelsea needed to hit FFP targets and he is the main piece. I suppose the resistance could come from Gallagher himself, can’t force a player to move.

I know not the most reliable source in Dean Jones but says we're interested Gallagher as well as Bryan Cristante, Morten Frendrup, and Hayden Hackney which I thought was worth sharing.
Boro really won’t want to lose Hackney before the summer, and Genoa aren’t safe enough from relegation to sell us another good player. Leaves Gallagher and a 28 year old Cristante.

Paul O’Keefe and a couple other folks on twitter have mentioned going for a young CM option.

So the ones you mentioned would definitely fit. Not watched much of Wharton or Hackney in all honesty.
I’ve only watched Hackney a few times but he’s comfortable on the ball, good technically and extremely versatile B2B/playmaker who can play DM & CM. I read that he’s even played LW a few times. A lot of big prem clubs watching him. Looks an exciting talent.

Also being from Hackney means i really want us to buy someone called Hackney so I can get his shirt thinking im ironic, realise I’ll actually look like a complete tool if i wear it out then proceed to only wear it in front of my lady until she’s had enough and strangely it goes in the washing with all the colours.

That's only cos hes a better 6 than skipp is. IMO hes the only player we have outside of Biss who can play Ange's 6. He is equally as good at 6 or 8. Think Ange will play him in both positions

Hayden Hackney is a cracking young player also just a brilliant name 🤣

Still can absolutely see why Ange would want CH though.

At Genoa with Radu (well was). BBC article from Serie A expert on Radu mentions him and calls him infallible. Looks to be a 6 though

Looks like he’s also played in both fullback positions. We know Ange likes hybrids so it could be a goer. TBF someone in that mould would actually be ideal backup for our FBs given the unique demands of that role. Obviously he’ll be on our radar but it could be one that Lange is keen on as well, what with the Danish connection.

Frendrup can play both 6 and 8, but has said earlier his favourite position is 6. He’s also had a few games at wingback when he played for Brøndby.

One of the biggest talents at the club back then, quite mobile as I remember, reads the game well. Haven’t seen him play since.
