Since 1970, I have watched some great footballers play for Spurs.

This guy is up there with the best of them.

Will probably have to delete my account on here if he comes back......

In all seriousness I can't see him coming back as he wants to play the World Cup in Qatar and that requires a lot of playing time to even get picked again for Denmark. He won't have time to settle in and get 3 months to get in shape and then play. Needs to play right away. Conte is a plus though..

Eriksen's first target is the WC, but Personally I think he wants to improve his already impressive international record to go down as a true legend. He has 109 caps for Denmark and 36 goals and is just 20 games away from beating Peter Schmeichel's 136 caps, and 16 goals away from becoming the all-time topscorer for Denmark as well. I think he is driven by a huge desire to regain his identity as a top player, and secure his place in the history books for his amazing achievements on the pitch, and not for almost dying on one. Ajax would be the obvious choice for him; Less demanding than the PL, but more than good enough to win back his place in the Denmark team. However, if he is somehow ready to play in the PL again I really think we should give him the chance to play for us. Let him train with the squad for the rest of the month and see if he might be worth a punt for the rest of the season. You'd think he might be willing to play for less than he was on at Inter. Whether he and Conte are a perfect match is another matter.

I read somewhere that he wouldn't be allowed to play in England now anyway after his heart problem. Seems they're OK with it in Holland though.

Late to the thread but I'd have thought no insurance company would touch this situation ?

As ever with insurance of this type, there will always be someone who will insure a risk, the question would be the premium. Also as there isn't a massive transfer value to protect (presumably), you could get away with a smaller sum insured.

I have no knowledge of how insurance for sportspeople works, but I do know other markets. I would imagine that a club with a decent relationship with its broker /insurer wouldn't have too much of a problem, if they wanted.

Why do people want him back playing again? Its not worth it man, why take the risk, just retire and live a happy life. He doesnt need to play anymore.

That's up to him not us. If he is going to play anyway he might as well come on for half hour for us to unlock a bus parking team.

I think the important question that we might not be privy to is why he suffered the cardiac arrest in the first place. Last I heard even the doctors weren't sure of why he got the cardiac arrest, something they were investigating extensively and they then implanted the ICD as a precaution rather than anything else?

Basically, does he have some kind of heart defect or was it a freak accident?
My girlfriend who's a final year med student was with me watching the game when he collapsed, and she said it's possible that he doesn't even need to have a permanent issue. It could be something as little/simple as a blood clot that moved into his heart which then made it stop. After his first defib, the clot would then have moved and later likely dissolved on its own without a trace. If this is the case it would incredibly difficult to identify the reason, but the risk of it happening again is next to zilch.

Does anyone know more about why he got a cardiac arrest or is it still just speculative?

Sadly I don’t think that any PL club is going to take the risk, how minuscule it might be.

He has stated his intention to play again. He does not want to retire.

His decision at end of the day, if I had that condition, and Serie A are saying no, am I really going to want to chance it in the PL? The least I can do as a fan is plead that he doesn't sign or play in the PL at all.

So looks like A&C has lent his ban stick to the Twitter guys.

Guessing the ‘hateful’ content has been my inclusion of a line from Eriksens chant :X3:

I wonder what players would feel like having him in their team now. He wants to play in the World Cup, but imagine what that would feel like for the rest of the Danish squad who were with him when he collapsed. I know I'd be nervous to play with him again (for his sake), no matter what the doctors say. Will be interesting to see who gives him the chance to play again, if anyone.

Any links for that? I kind of assumed if he's talking about the PL he'll have checked if it's plausible.

I don't I'm afraid but I think it's on here somewhere. It was something about neither Eriksen nor Daly Blind being able to play in the EPL.

This happens automatically when you type 'certain' words and tag a verified 'blue tick' account in your tweet. You could appeal and show evidence that it wasn't a racist tweet, but that's up to you, videos on YT, fan pages listing the song.. etc etc.

When he was my age, my dad had a massive heart attack, was in hospital for a couple of weeks, lots of tests, care regimes etc. He’s now in his late 70s and post heart attack has been in the best shape of his life - he wasn’t unfit back then, either, but he’s now doing 5-10 miles a day on the treadmill, circuit training etc - without any sort of recurrence. As much as I instinctively dread the idea of CE playing football again and something happening to him, I look at dad and figure that yeah, he’ll probably be just fine. Indeed, with the high tech healthcare around players, the monitors they wear during games etc, he’s probably in the best place he could be when he’s on the pitch with expert healthcare on the touch line, too… but it still freaks me out.

Up to him and the doctors reports that none of us are privy too. If they found no underlying condition or reason why it’s up to CE himself to make the call. I wish him all the best.

I saw a danish journalist say yesterday that a good move for him would be to go and work with thomas frank at Brentford. I am pretty concerned about him playing premier league football again but that wouldnt be the worst move for him if they stay up.
