I said months ago they'd be in for him. I guess it just depends now how much he wants to stay in London dn how much he wants Champions League football. They are still a big draw but Fernandes plays in his position.

and Van De Beek aswell (kind of).

Would find it odd.

Ornstein doesn't say when the offer was made, does he? I'll stick with the info from Dov and Hotspur88 earlier. Suits my agenda better.

Yeah you do wonder where he fits in at United as they already have VDB and Fernandes in similar(ish) roles. My initial instinct was that he'd walk into their team but they could have some real balance issues fitting him and Bruno into the same 11.

Meanwhile, he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter at Spurs but he'd fill a completely unique role in the side as we have no other players anything like him in the squad.

Can defo see why he might be tempted by United but hopefully the familiarity of the club, London and Conte, plus CL, are enough to get the deal over the line.

I think he’ll come here. Unfinished business, fans obviously love him, CL, Conte admires him, etc. This is all brand new information that has not been discussed previously.

Romano just made a new post about Eriksen, I'm not going to share that but instead I'm going to post this and ask you to focus on the date:

Sums up about 90% of Romano's posts. Recycling and/or rewording old news every day but presenting it as new information to keep people interested.

He's obviously well connected but so much of what he says is just waffle while he treads water waiting for new info.

If we sign him, do we think Conte will employ a 3-5-2 to allow Eriksen being played in the middle?

Or would we play him out wide when we go for a 3-4-3 or keep him in a midfield two?

It'll be interesting to see where he is slotted in if he does come back, but I would be very reluctant to ditch the front three, as Kulu has been so impressive.

When we played 3-4-2-1 under Poch Eriksen played in a similar inside forward role to Kulusevski so he can play there. He also gives us that 3-5-2 option as well as potentially even being dropped into the pivot when chasing games against a low block. Just gives us great tactical options and a skillset we don't really have.

I'd personally think we'll keep the 343 formation and rotate Eriksen amongst the front three as he would have seen how well a competent front three worked last season. Or i could possible see us go 3412 with Eriksen slightly behind from time to time, but appreciate that's not too different to 352.

I suspect he will play in rotation. And might play in both of those positions depending on how the game is going. I think he will play almost every game, as he is a player you can bring on to protect a lead as well as to chase a game, but I suspect mostly as a sub.

I highly doubt we will see him in a midfield two, maybe only in very particular occasions when we are struggling to break down teams.

The 3412 really didn't work at Inter when Conte introduced it specifically to fit Eriksen in. Eriksen was dropped and results weren't good with it. This Eriksen is not the same as the one we sold for Inter he played much deeper in midfield 3, who wasn't even so much box to box but a player whose job was to pick passes all day. That's the position Conte got him to work, he also worked very well as the central player in a midfield 3. I doubt he will play n10 if we want to go with a midfield 3.
