Leadership is good... But, what happens when you litter a team with captains?

Lloris - Assuming we get him - French Captain
Kaboul - Former French U21 Captain
Dawson - Current Vice-Captain
Vertonghen - Former Ajax Captain and Belguim Vice-captain
Parker - Captained Newcastle, West Ham, Spurs & England
Sandro - Former Brazilian U20 Captain
Van Der Vaart - Occasional Dutch Captain
Joao Moutinho - If he turns up - Former Sporting Lisbon Captain
Adebayor - Togo Captain

This without mentioning King, Gallas, Pienaar and Modric.

Now, this should mean we're mentally strong, individually seize initiative etc But is there such thing as too many chiefs? Or is this purely a good thing? Perhaps it's even part of our strategy? How does it compare with over clubs?

Does the role of captain even matter?

And lastly, if King does sign off for the last time, and Daws doesn't see much first team action, who should take over the role?

It's a good thing, imo, if we have many players who have shown the character in past teams to become captains. The whole is not always the sum of the parts, but I think typically the character of the team is made up of the character of the individuals.
