Well people can't have it all. Without Sky the premiership wouldn't be where it is today and as competitive as it is. They brought the money to the league which made it what it is today.
Too right football wasn't worth watching for a hundred years before Sky came along, makes me sad for all those millions of people that used to pack out the grounds in the 20's 30's 40's 50's 60's 70's and 80's watching rubbish players playing the most unexciting football you could imagine, so bad it used to make me want to poke my eyes out in fact I don't know why I ever bothered to go to every game, I must have imagined just how great it was and all for an entry fee everybody could afford.
All this time I've thought "I'm not falling for this Sky saved football crap" when it seems I was just wrong, Thank God for sky praise the Lord and pass the credit card!!!!

Yes I thought there was a rule where by at least one game from each country had to be shown on a terrestrial channel ? Maybe I am wrong I don't know.

I think I read that BT will screen at least one Champions league and Europa league game as free to air for each round of matches.

I actually am quite pissed off as i don't like BT sports coverage of football. I cant stand that moron Mark Halsey interrupting the commentary every couple of minutes to comment on every referee decision. Have to say Skys champions league coverage is very good and BT are going to have to go some to beat it.

I'm disappointed, Sky did an excellent job with the rights, BT have to step their game up.

Stepping aside from how it affects us for a moment I wonder how this is going down at sky? it was sky did football and tv and BT did broadband then sky moved into BT territory with the broadband offering and undercutting BT which if allowed to go unchallenged would have led to the end of BT who therefore had to fight back and take sky on in their own back yard.
This is a massive fight to the death make no mistake, without football sky is doomed and will go under as was happening before they started doing football, its going to be very interesting.

Sickening that it's no longer on terrestrial TV. Football's money bubble has to burst sometime soon, and this obsession with spending seems to take the focus away from the actual game.

Still, Platini will probably get a few swimming pools out of this deal eh?

The people at sky will be crapping themselves. They have 4 of the 6 PL packages plus the Football league and Spanish football, only the PL is a draw. Imagine in the next round of auctions the PL goes 4/2 in BTs favour, what are Sky left with? The Ashes?

The players must be rubbing their hands together though.

Let's face it, the players can hardly survive on what they earn now so they need more wages and us mug fans will be the ones paying it through multiple subscriptions.

I predict in 5 - 10 Years domestic football will be shared among 4 or 5 channels / providers and each will be at a price.

The sooner we see the club's themselves setup TV channels with season tickets the better IMHO

Great to see some real competition for SKY. Time for the Murdoch empire to come crashing down. BUT...

In a few years SKY will be stuck anyway as their tech is old hat and no one will need an ugly satellite dish. The problem is that BT will then have the monopoly of networks and content but for now happy because at least they are not SKY

Didn't they raise the price of the broadband by £12 to coincide with the BT Sport
I have Virgin and get BT free for now. I would be happy to pay a few quid more when they get more games but not the extortionate SKY Sports prices

What about people who don't have a tv package? So no more games on terrestrial tv?

I don't even see how that can have been allowed.

They'll find a way to charge you for it before 2015 I'll guarantee you that

Yeap, will be very interesting to see what packages they offer, and if they will still give the sports channel free with BT Broadband or charge Sky and VirginMedia more to broadcast the channels on their devices
