It's probably because I'm a fickle bastard and this is looking increasingly likely, but I'm starting to want Fernandes over GLC.

Everyone who watches the Portuguese league seems to rate him as highly as it gets - they think he'll a guaranteed star wherever he ends up and is one of the top talents they've ever seen. And this is coming from a league that has a constant stream of upcoming players: James, Di Maria, Falcao, Felix, Ronaldo, Quaresma, Luiz, etc.

I have the feeling he might be a bit of a Suarez. He was a bit of a slow developer and everyone thought he was just a flack track bully in the Eredivisie who would get found out, but he absolutely tore it up in England and Spain. Much like Suarez, Fernandes has steadily improved year after year, gradually totting up ridiculous numbers.

Oh, and they also both have bad teeth and look vaguely villainous.

Is Fernandes is the best like-for-like Eriksen replacement out there?

Eriksen is honestly an incredible player and so much of what he does goes unappreciated.

I hope we've done our homework and are not just going for Fernandes because he's available...

Admittedly I haven’t seen much of Fernandes, but from the compilations on here of his goals / assists last season he seems to be as two footed as they get. Must be a nightmare to defend against; and with Kane, Son etc alongside him I can see him racking up a lot of assists if we get him.

Haha. until your last line I was ready to say you are only comparing him to Suarez due to his annoying ratty face. I honestly think his appearance + bad tattoos is the main reason people don't want him vs. wholesome looking choir boy GLC.

I made the mistake of watching that Tifo video earlier he seems the perfect Eriksen replacement to me.

At least Fernandes has done it consistently over a few seasons. Janssen on the other hand basically had one hot streak and we foolishly took a punt.

I am warming to the idea we get Lo Celso and Fernandes so if Eriksen stays great but if he goes we are covered. I do think we need more quality options. Sessegnon might well have to wait until January or else we just move on. Fulham seem to be like Palace as far as transfer fees are concerned.

I wonder if the Fulham owner is cheesed off at us because of our NFL linkup when he of course has ambitions to bring his team over here?
