We need 2 players to replace Eriksen, if he goes. Otherwise it's just a side step, if not a back step for us.
So hopefully it's 2 players in or CE stays plus 1 in.

I agree, CE has needed serious competition for a while and add to that he is a player who would like to be in Madrid, I would love both BF and GLCI at the club but cant see us signing both because I think CE will stay for the season, maybe I should have said that.

Fernandes strikes the ball very cleanly and with venom, it doesn't surprise me that he's scored as many goals (and as many goals from distance) as he has.

His creativity stats are also off the charts. I know players in Italy don't always translate well to the Premier League, but the fact that he was the second most creative player in his final season in that league is nothing to be sniffed at. Serie A may not be physically demanding but it's full of technicians, so posting those kinds of numbers is a testament to his eye for chance creation.

All that being said I agree that Lo Celso looks the better player. He's got the rare ability to control the tempo of a game *and* chip in with goals and assists, and seems suited to replacing Eriksen outright in a way that Fernandes does not. Perhaps with Winks and Ndombele in CM Poch is not as concerned about the playmaker providing the rhythm considering that our attacking players should be receiving the ball in much better positions than they have up until now.

Regardless he seems like a decent second option if we can't manage to get GLC or if Eriksen leaves. It's good that we're lining up a solid Plan B -- our inability to do just that is what's been our failing in past windows IMO.

Excellent post, totally agree.

- Of all of them, GLC is the one we must end up with
- a signed up, motivated Eriksen would be my second choice...but I question if that’s realistic...
- ...so ending up with GLC and BF would be fantastic in my view

My concern is that it’s only one of the three well actually finish with

This is well worth a watch but if you can't be bothered then all I can say is that I can't remember last time I watched such a varied compilation from just 1 season of play.

All different kinds of goals, Long range strikes, tap-ins, free kicks, pens, headers. Completely two footed. Obviously we don't see general play in this video as it's just goals and assists but suggestion is that he has high work rate, great engine and can dribble out of trouble with ease - a perfect Poch player. Clear similiarities to Lo Celso/Eriksen so can certainly see why we're in for him.

Based on the info it feels like it's time for Eriksen to go, and that's what he wants, so if we can sell him and add both Lo Celso and Bruno then we're going to be better off IMO.

He also has a cheeky little hop-step when taking pens and is clearly watching the keeper before he shoots. Makes taking pens look piss takingly easy.

That'll come in handy for all the penalties we're never awarded then.

I think it is, unless you mean because it’s not for his club side? I’ve thought the same at international level to be fair. Let’s remember though that Eriksen, in the World Cup qualifying for Denmark for example, was awesome. Every game you watched him he looked the most deadly player on the pitch pretty much.

I always think it’s best to read what the potentially selling club’s fans think of a player. If they are desperate not to lose him then you want to sign him, if they are happy just to take the money then it’s one you have to be wary about.

I didn’t know he’d spent most of his time in Italy. His figures are majorly down in a tougher league but there could be various reasons for that. Knowing he’s played out of Portugal does make it more interesting that’s for sure.

The fans love him, but they think that losing him is inevitable.

Keep in mind that BF hasn't played that much in the national team. It seems that he made his way into the starting eleven recently but not in the same position that he's used to. Fernando Santos is still looking to find the best way to include João Felix, BF and Bernado Silva. If memory serves me well, last time he played at the right vertex of a diamond formation. He was competent but not very impressive. For comparison, João Felix (€120M to Atletico) had a disastrous day.

I think that in Italy he played a significant amount of time as a right midfielder. In my opinion he lacks the 1 vs 1 flair to be successful at the highest level as a right mid. At the time he lacked consistency but in Portugal his performance has been stellar: despite Sporting finishing third he was awarded the best player of the league in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019.
