Just difficult for Conte to play him......
Looking back it seems absolutely criminal to have wasted a year of his career and Spurs contract. I know he had a few injury issues, but we all knew how good he was from his Brighton days. Conte made a Lot of mistakes, but I believe his misuse of Bissouma was his worst.

These call backs to Conte are kind of lazy. Conte played a specific style with two CMs, expected to be disciplined and rigid. That style did not suit Bissouma the way playing as a 6 for Ange suits him.

No reason to look back at last season. Let’s look forward to more performances like today - and then laugh at teams paying £100m for players like Bissouma.

Look when ten hag took over united Brentford battered them 4-0 then united mastered his shit tactics (imo) and got 3rd. Brentford are masters at exploiting new teams. We drew, and have a much better manager/system. I'm pretty jazzed about how well we played, and am prepared to give the players time. I'm very drunk so excuse any mistakes

Played well , couple of players short
We gonna score loads .
Front three need to believe in the press , ie win the ball instead of ticking boxes . That happens.
We gonna cook !!

I've not really watched a lot of tactical analysis of Anges set-up and only caught highlights of pre-season but it what seemed pretty obvious and in stark contrast with JM and AC is the lack of focus on transitioning the ball quickly. It seems like we try and play our way through trouble and it's more about playing triangles to escape the press opposed to stretching the pitch and playing long. Is this a preference of his? I'm certainly not opposed to it - my favourite side in terms of style was the Barca team in the 00's but it does require every player to have a level of technical ability, especially our back 4 and cm's.

If it's the way we're going to play then it'll take a while for the players to adapt, it'll also take patience from those in our fan base who repeat "just clear it" every 5 minutes. I've always preferred possession based football so I'm more than happy to let the occasional misplaced pass occur on our final third if it means we're prettier on the eye, just hope the majority of fans understand what we're trying to do.

I could also be spouting absolute rubbish and he's known for his fast transitions, just going off the small sample size of today.

For me…absolutely not……if that’s the benchmark then this season will be a record for penalties given but then I’m old school…in my day you could kick a player in the nuts and he would be the one that got booked……
Fair enough.

Observations
Emerson looks like he’s adapting well already to Ange’s system.
Udogie - looks like he’ll be a star. Confidence, technically sound, and workrate/athleticism.
Van de Ven - solid display after such a short settling period. Will only get better. His pace looks useful, and he looks unflustered when pressured on the ball.
Bissouma - finally looks the player we bought from Brighton. Bossed the midfield. My worry here is we have nobody else to play that role currently, on that basis I’d love for us to try and get Douglas Luiz to replace me PEH.
Maddison - showing why we should have bought him years ago. Classy and industrious. Looks hugely influential already. Two assists on debut, nice start.
Deki & Son, looked like they weren’t quite sure what was required of them.
Richarlison- not clinical enough, but I do feel he was as starved of service.

As a team, early days. Nice to see us actually try and play with the ball rather than sit in and wait for the opposition to surrender. I feel we’re still a little undercooked, not enough preseason games, but that will improve. Positive initial signs.

Really enjoyable 1st half but then the 2nd half sort of petered out a bit. Still plenty of chances though.

Udogie, VDV and Bissouma were all excellent, Maddison was very good.

Ange has a lot of work to do. The front 3 were pretty ineffective and the style we play left us very open.

It's great to see us playing good football but if it leads to poor results, we'll soon stop enjoying it.

We need to get the attack functioning and scoring.

Yes, because heaven forbid that footballers are human, and play best when being allowed to exceed in what they are good at.

Conte comes across as a dinosaur

SC expecting a mastery of Ange’s system after a couple of friendlies. Jeez.

The system, particularly defensively, is going to take a few months to bed in. It’s been the same wherever he’s coached. We will concede goals from balls played in behind the fullbacks until they get the movement and cover locked in.

Same goes for Son, Richie and Kulu. Once they get to grips with Maddison’s eye for a pass the goals will come.

You'll get no arguments from me - that Conte mis-used Bissouma, and others. There will be good players that don't fit Ange's tactics either - I don't expect Ange to change, simply because we bring one in.

But, what done is done. Can't keep complaining about why Conte did not play a different system.

Hopefully the difference will be that any players that do not fit are only ones that he has inherited.

I’ve little doubt that Ange is a better improver of players than Conte but the club has to stop buying players just because they’re bargains (Bissouma entering final year of contract).

Front 3 still playing like last season. Everybody else was good
Spot on. The spotlight on them will be intense, but we need much more threat from the front three. Kane covered the front regardless of the form of his nearest teammates, but they dont have that anymore.

Kulu and Son have had purple patches, and longer, at Spurs before. They need to find them again. And Richarlison needs to get started at spurs....we don't need "workmanlike" plaudits for him, we need real goal threat and goals.

Only caught snippets of todays game; but, for me, to come away from Brentford with a 2-2 draw in Anges first game (proper)in charge is a decent result. Also - given what I saw - taking Romero off was an assertive move

Decent game, ruined partly by the VAR giving a penalty when there wasn't a clear and obvious error.

Because Brentford played so deep, Richarlison ended up playing with his back to goal, which really isn't his forte.

Assertive move? He had a concussion.

Wasn’t aware. All I saw was him giving ange the thumbs up to continue
He wanted to continue but we correctly chose to sub him off. He was clearly groggy.

We messed up the paperwork and didn't sub him off as a concussion sub though.
