I was thinking about the amount of really good Belgian footballers the Premier League has right now and that they seem to be a strong tip to cause a few surprises that the next World Cup, and I started wondering which World Cup winning nationality has given the Premier League the best selection of players? So here's the best I could come up with in the Premier League from each side to have won the world cup: I've seeded it (by World Cup wins) to create a tournament and it might be fun to see who everyone thinks would win from the selections of players. England only don't have Gazza because his Premier League time with Everton and Middlesbrough didn't show the best of him, and Uruguay seem not to have a goalkeeper.

What players would you change in any of the line ups?

You forgot the mighty Lucas for Brazil! How could you?!

I'd go Brazil, Spain, Argentina, France out of those 'fixtures'.

I'd say France to win the whole thing

And at this early stage in his Tottenham career, I'd have Lloris over Barthez who was a bit of a Gomes back in the day

That French team looks really good!

I think it's between the French and the Spanish.

No Nicola Berti?

With the exception of Uruguay (where I had to use google a lot) I tried to stick to players who either have had, or look like the will have (e.g. Carzola) a tangible impact on the Premier League. Otherwise Berti would have definitely been in because that Italy side is ever so slightly lightweight.

The dutch could put out a pretty awesome team, though aside from Stam, their backline would be a bit of a let down.

If there's only been 7 winners then I'd have included the Dutch as they've been in two finals and have provided the Premier League with so many awesome players. Would look something like this I imagine:

Van der Saar
Melchiot Heitinga Stam Giovanni
De Jong Davids
Robben Bergkamp Van Persie
Van Nistelrooy
And in that forward line there's still the likes of Van der Vaart, Kuyt, Hasslebaink, Overmars and even Van Hooijdonk.
Goalkeeper wise they've also given us a few good ones with De Goey, Krul and Vorm.

I'd drop Van Persie and replace him with Overmars

But then again, I always was a sucker for a pacy wide-man on each flank

Okay, this is going to be controversial, but as far as the England team goes I'd take Anderton over Beckham

The reason Anderton wasn't rated was because of his injury record

If Anderton had of played 30-odd matches every season for 10 years, and had been sold to Man Utd which he nearly was, I'm sure the public's perception of him would be different

As it was, he ended up as a bit of a crock in a completely shite Spurs side (bar the 94/95 season)

Beckham was great at set-pieces, passing and crossing. But he couldn't dribble, or take the ball past a defender which is important for a wide-player

Anderton could do the former things Beckham could do (albeit not quite as well), but he could also take a player on and had a bit of flair.

So based on ability alone, and the ability to influence a match, I'd go for Anderton
