According to sky sports news he was released a couple of weeks ago. Someone posted a few days ago that they have seen pics of him training with Villareal and that he is with their 2nd team atm

He's definitely out of contract but because of his age we could have got a fee for him if he'd moved within England (hence his not being officially released to begin with). I did expect him to be released and to be honest wouldn't be surprised if he had been - definitely haven't seen any confirmation though. You're right - he was training with Villarreal B - but he hasn't put pen to paper there yet.

Rose is in that same defence, and Smith is in midfield

If we can pick a pre-season side with 17 right backs then surely Livermore can play centre back or even centre forward.

We would need about 8 injuries to CBs before Livermore played there (King, Bassong, Dawson, Woodgate, Kaboul, Corluka, Huddlestone, Walker)

Is Kaboul injured? As i would have him at centre half and Huddlestone instead of Jenas.

Maybe even play Jenas on the right but then the downfall is we are going to get to narrow in the middle.

I assumed Kaboul was injured because he didn't play the other night. But if Kaboul is ok to play then I would play Walker in place of Townsend on the right of midfield, and Kaboul at centre back.
