Another thing I’ve heard about Barcelona recently is they have mega gone for it in scouting British kids along with PSG.

offering kids as young as 6/7 places at la masia but they go through English school out there or something bonkers part of some plan they have to mix the English physicality with Spanish technique but surely by being out there they don’t learn the English game or physically ?
Maybe they think that us English are just born double 'ard bastards?!

Id imagine part of the theory behind this , with older kids at least, would be looking at the type of figures Sancho, and most likely Bellingham, have garnered and will garner. Get young players from the country with by far the richest league, command the biggest fees when selling back. A logical way of making money.

But getting them that young means they won’t be classed as HG to prem teams so won’t be as attractive

Only if Messi is willing to take a pay cut. Barca still needs to clear out salary.
It was said when he left that he was willing to pay for free but La Liga rules wouldn't allow a salary reduction of more than 50% and Barca couldn't afford that.

Pinch of salt of course but given how much he makes off the Saudis these days he might be willing to play for a nominal salary. Emphasis on might.

In any case, the best player in history ending his career by pitting the "soft power" of two Nation states against each other is a perfect image of what football has become. And it's sickening.

Apparently it could have been more but there was the mitigating factor that Neymar paid the fine to the victim for him so his sentenced was likely reduced. Sickening that that's a thing.

I did also read that he’s served some time on remand so again that sentence may come down somewhat.

I don't believe this for a second but it's absolute madness if they have. The journalist tagged in this has retweeted it so he's validating it.

I wouldn't be surprised, he must be great at interviews.

They really are becoming a scumbag club, but they'll come out of this with a better deal extending the current deal until past 2028. Nike won't want to part ways with their cash cow.

This is where all those moves Barca did with players wages being back ended has come back to bite them. You love to see it

I fully expect them to try emotional blackmail on De Jong again.
